Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Thanks to Philippe Majerus, author of PHM Regedit for this ;) Ah, and as I've seen this question on your forums some minutes ago: Some people are able to install RegEdit:Smartphone but get a "This is not a valid Windows CE application" or similar error message when they try to run the application on the Smartphone, this might happen when they install it using the desktop MSI package, for some reason activesync installs the Pocket PC edition instead of the Smartphone one. You can verify it with the application name in the Smartphone programs menu, "PHM RegEdit" means it's the Pocket PC version that have been installed, the Smartphone version should be displayed as "PHM Registry Editor". The only workaround so far is to install it using the CAB file on the Smartphone instead of using the desktop MSI. I'll look into this issue when I have some time. Sorted! P
Guest madu Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 hmmmm, think i had a similar problem with turjah episode II for arm.
Guest casper508 Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 I was also getting this message "This is not a valid Windows CE application". I tried this method and it seems to work for me. Download the registry editor (ARM version) from the link below. http://www.pdagold.com/software/smp/301/de...ftwareID=100079 After unzipping u'll find a regedit.Stngr_ARM.CAB file in there. Copy this file to your storage card. Create a shortcut and copy it to IPSM -> Windows -> Start Menu -> Accessories On the SPV goto Programs -> Accessories ->shortcut to regedit.Stngr_ARM.CAB and run it. You'll be asked where to install it followed by a message Installation Successful blah blah. Now go back to programs. If the registry file icons is there next to PHM Registry Editor, this means its working ! Sorted ! ;) Now you may remove the CAB file you copied in the first place. Cheers Cas
Guest casper508 Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 I dont have ALL Explorer. If you do then there's no need to create the shortcut and copy it to the location specified in my previous post. Simply execute the cab from the storage card or wherever you saved it. Cas
Guest PhMajerus Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Also, uninstall any previously installed version first, then install the right CAB, or you might run into some issues with the Uninstall wizard unable to understand what happend to them. This whole MSI issue will be fixed in the next release.
