Guest Gnome Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Good Afternoon. Relative newbie to the forums. Signed up aggggeeeesssss ago, but soon after, managed to destroy my old SPV (read as clumsy oaf falls over table, and sits on SPV sat in pocket... Still not as good as the time my Nokia passed me on the road, whilst I was on my motorbike doing about 40mph, after it'd fallen out of my pocket). Anyways! The company I work for has recently signed a new contract with Orange (Stop grumbling at the back!). Our office doesn't get a fantastic signal with Orange, and when it did with Vodafone, it was only in the main run of the office. However, we've had users complain about having no signal on their phone, only upon rebooting, it appears. We've still got the old Nokias from our Vodafone contract, and if we stick the Orange sim card in those, it seems to get a better reception than the C600's. Is there a known problem with inferior signal on the C600, or is there a simple (cheap!) way of boosting the signal on the phones? Thanks! Johnathan
Guest CHR15 Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 (edited) For what its worth my old C500 and my new C600 both struggle to re-aquire a signal. When it has a strong signal it is fine but move inside a steel box (A ship) for two minutes then come out again, it will take sometimes up to half an hour to reaquire a good 5 Bar signal. I usually reboot mine too, even thoughit takes an eternity to start up. Edited March 14, 2006 by CHR15
Guest Gnome Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 That's a bit of a Sod then, as we've only just started this contract, and we are in an area of low signal as it is.
Guest Gnome Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Ok, searched the forums, and haven't been able to find similar problems, but have noticed some of our phones are getting the "random flight mode turn-on" routine. Mine's done it once so far, and so have a few of the other phones. Are there are firmware updates; bar the push-email update, that could possibly resolve some of these problems? Also, what are people's thoughts on the signal boosters? They seem cheap and a waste of money to me, but if they work, they work! Thanks,
