Guest BAMN Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Woke up today and at work and at home where i useually have no more than 2 bars of signal i have full reception. Whats going on?? Well what ever it is im happy ;)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Maybe there is a problem with your local transmitter. First point of call, phone Orange! P
Guest AsherUK Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Maybe Orange have installed a new transmitter in your area without telling anyone. (probably hidden in a petrol station price sign !)
Guest BAMN Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 i knew it was to good to be true now i have no bars in exactly the same place damm it!!! ;)
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 It's well established that the signal indicator is rubbish and inconsistent. The test of signal strength is ring someone and find out whether the phone works.
Guest benny Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 I had four bars at work last week where normally I have nothing. I then reset my phone to make sure, and ended up with nothing. Bugger. B
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 Maybe they were testing a new transmitter in your area? Again, Orange will be able to tell you if this is the case. P
Guest ashley Posted January 24, 2003 Report Posted January 24, 2003 I remember this problem several years ago where an old motorola was giving me signal strength based on the 1800 MHZ frequency, not just the orange signal. So you could a full signal strength where you were under a one2one antenna even when orange had no base stations installed for miles. Could we have come a full circle here?
Guest neilg Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 slightly away from topic, but my replacement SPV has noticably worse signal strength than my original, must be phone specific because I have has for a couple of weeks now and the ability to hold a call is awful, also my Old SPV was much better than my T68, but this replacement is terrible in comparison. I will post in the software forum as well but it would be really useful to have an application that would act like the old nokia netmonitor and provde true signal strenghth in dBm as well as BA list etc (havent looked to see if you can get at these in the SPV yet)
Guest fraser Posted February 21, 2003 Report Posted February 21, 2003 Am I the only person that automatically thought of the line "someone set us up the bomb" after reading the subject of this thread?
