Guest HerpezP Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 After quite some research I still haven't been able to find out what exactly Sprite Backup makes a backup of. All I can see in the version I have installed now is two check boxes - Personal Data and System Data, but what do these two things cover? I would like to back up the call history, SMS'es/MMS'es and contacts. I haven't found anything related to backup of the call history. The photos in the Photo Caller ID application and in SMS Notify would be nice too and the same with GPRS settings, but I can live with having to put that back manually. Any input appreciated.
Guest RobertCeuppens Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 (edited) Hi, If you have both check boxes checked then it backups the whole phone. Everything in the registry and all the contacts, SMS,s and pictures. I recently did a full back up and restore after replacing my broken C500 and apart from having to re-register some programs it backed up the whole phone so it was the same as before. ;) Hope this helps. Guest HerpezP Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Thanks for your reply. I guess that means it also makes a backup of the call history. I will try and make a backup of just the personal data and of both. If I don't think enough is brought back to the phone with just restoring the personal data I guess I can then make the complete backup. I assume this also works after I upgrade the ROM - it's the reason I need to make this backup ;)
Guest RobertCeuppens Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Before you upgrade the ROM AFAIK you're supposed to run the update file from the Sprite site. But I updated when I got a new phone with the new ROM on it and it took all night to do it, but in the morning all was good. Have a look at some other threads on Sprite on the forums as I can't recall the exact details about the upgrade file. Good luck. Rob.

Rob. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I did a ROM upgrade yesterday and had prior to that made a full backup with Sprite. Then I restored from that backup on the new ROM - an i-mate one and not an Orange ROM like before. It did backup my programs, pictures (documents) and call history (well, not the whole one, but I also had like ~700 entries). It didn't restore my SMS'es, MMS'es or emails. Luckily I have my emails and SMS'es elsewhere to restore from and I don't use MMS'es a lot anyway. Maybe it didn't do a complete backup because of the update you're mentioning or maybe it's because the phone is now application locked. I'm trying to find a way to unlock it (the Orange application unlock methods doesn't work on an i-mate ROM) and if I can't find a way I'll probably switch to an Orange ROM (newer than the one I had before), and then I'll see if it also restore SMS'es etc.
Guest FATGOONER Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Does anyone know if I can back up using sprite then transfer all that info on to a C600??

Guest HerpezP Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Well, now I have installed the Orange ROM instead (two times actually), and just to clear things up, Sprite Backup actually did make a backup of the whole call history, it was something else that caused it not to restore all of it the first time.
