Guest muchaq Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 JAFWM Key (Box edition) - Will set it ? Will start up I me phone ?
Guest fluffcat1 Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 JAFWM Key (Box edition) - Will set it ? Will start up I me phone ? Sorry, I don't know what that is. To repair your phone I would think you will need to send it to a service agent for re-flashing via JTAG, and you will most likely have to pay for this to be done, as you cannot get into the original bootloader as this will have been overwritten, and there are no complete c550 update roms on the internet. Sorry :-( Richard
Guest mini_man Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 I have orginal ROM in me miniSD card. Richard cant muchaq just boot up from the original rom?
Guest sporkguy Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 muchaq: (this works on the C500, not sure about the C500 sorry!) try turning off the phone, holding the Camera button, then whilst still holding the camera button, press the power button shortly for 1second. When you see the next screen, it should ask you to press the 0 key to continue or some such.. this *should* put you into the bootloader where you can connect USB and hopefully reflash your backup ROM from your SD Card. Sorry I'm not too experienced in this matter, someone more experienced may be of more help.
Guest fluffcat1 Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Richard cant muchaq just boot up from the original rom? Not if the bootloader is screwed. Which it will be if it got to 71% of the wrong rom. muchaq: (this works on the C500, not sure about the C500 sorry!) try turning off the phone, holding the Camera button, then whilst still holding the camera button, press the power button shortly for 1second. Sorry I'm not too experienced in this matter, someone more experienced may be of more help. Only works if there is a complete image of an o.s on the phone. It's not a function of the hardware, and usually is only of use if the phone will not boot past a splash screen for example. Is possible to start up it? When I press Power OFF/ON fire red LED Please Help Me Based on this, a hard reset will not do anything for this phone :-( Richard
Guest mini_man Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 so basically all he needs is the correct bootloader program inbuilt into the C550's windows directory replaced and then it would work? (not suggesting anything illegal or copyright)

(not suggesting anything illegal or copyright) I would think so, except without the bootloader present you can't access the phone to rewrite the bootloader through the USB, so you need to use JTAG equipment to directly access the flash rom and re-write it via tag points on the board itself. HTCEurope will repair it as a 'bad flash' but as the phone needs to come apart they charge for the labour. Richard

Guest fluffcat1 Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 im having a similiar problem. i can get into the flasher thingy (with the camera and power trick). how do i flash back to my original rom? There is no official update tool rom available, do you have a backup of the rom? If you can get into the bootloader have you tried a hard reset? Unless you have tried to overwrite the rom and failed this should work. Richard
Guest chedabob Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 i dont have a backup, but i can get one off my other c500. i tried a hard reset and thats whats got me into this mess. do i need a big memory card for the backup on the sd card cos ive only got a 16mb one.

This is a topic about c550's. If you have this trouble with a c500, download the latest update from www.orange.co.uk and run that, if it doesn't work check the typhoon section for more info / hints. Taking the rom from another existing c500 is more work than you need to do, and it won't fit on a 16mb card. Richard.

Guest fluffcat1 Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 JTAG - Where can I obtain it in poland? Will set it? I don't know, but you cannot buy a full one yourself - costs $XX,XXX . Not meant for the public to buy, it's for service and development. You may be able to rig your own interface *if* you can find relevant schematics for c550 on the internet, and there are various JTAG programming apps on the internet you could try, but may well be easier to pay a local service agent to flash the phone this way. Richard
