Guest gfmoore Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Hi, new to this forum, but couldn't find this info I have an imate sp5 on an orange payasyougo sim I have downloaded the official orange payg connections cab from clubimate, but the gprs settings don't seem to work. mms is okay I have the large G at the top and get the small G above the strength meter, but then I get a Connection Failed, Check that you have network coverage. My strength meter is on full. I have had gprs working on another phone previously (or was it just wap?) Orange tell me that I am set up for gprs, but who knows... Anyone have orange payg gprs working on this or any smartphone ms mobile 5 edition And/Or Can anyone point to where I can find info on how the explorer - gprs - wap -proxy system works so I can try and trace through what is happening. btw the sp5 works fine with wifi. Regards Gordon Moore
Guest FuzzyDweeb Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 You could try these settings for 'GPRS Internet' on Orange PAYG... These are from my O2 XDA Mini S on Orange PAYG... Name: Orange GPRS Modem: Celluar Line (GPRS) Access point name: orangeinternet Username: (blank) Password: (blank) Domian: (blank) Leave 'Advance' tab alone as nothing should be in there. Hit Finish On Connections->Advanced->Select Networks I have... First drop down box.. Orange GPRS selected. Then tick 'This network connects to the internet' and then also tick 'This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet' Then on the 'Advanced' tab enter for WAP 192.168.071.035 Port 9201 That will allow your browser, email and msn to work with Orange PAYG GPRS Internet. Hope that helps ok.
Guest gfmoore Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 You could try these settings for 'GPRS Internet' on Orange PAYG... These are from my O2 XDA Mini S on Orange PAYG... Thanks for replying ... Uhmm interesting, however... On the sp5 there is no Connections->Advanced->Select Networks (windows mobile 5) ? On connections I can right click and get Advanced. This brings up: Internet Connection Orange Internet Work Connection Automatic WAP Connection Orange WAP Secure WAP Connection Orange MMS There is a Connections|Proxy and on this I have Orange Proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP Network Proxy (name:port): 192.168.71.35:9201 Type: WAP User name: Password: Which is similar I think. I have spent about 3/4 hour with orange and we couldn't get anywhere What bothers me is the proxy. I don't understand how the link from explorer to gprs to proxy to web site works. I suppose ie selects Orange Internet? This selects what? proxy? It's all very wierd. There is very little on how the Connection Manager process works. Without this knowledge I'm just trying everything in hope. mms works so I think the gprs or wap is working - the phone can send and get data and it puts the little G above the strength meter anyway so gprs? So anyone got a working sp5 on payg? Just for anyone I've put my current settings here: iMate sp5 Smartphone Windows Mobile 5 Settings|Connections Advanced Internet Connection Automatic ??? or Orange Internet or Orange WAP or Orange WAP CSD Work Connection Automatic WAP Connection Orange WAP Secure WAP Connection Orange MMS GPRS Orange Internet Connects to: The Internet Access point: orangeinternet User Name: Password: Primary DNS: 158.43.192.1 Secondary DNS: 158.43.128.1 IP Address: Orange MMS Connects to: Secure WAP Network Access point: orangemms User Name: Orange Password: Multimedia Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP Address: Orange WAP Connects to: The Internet Access point: orangewap User Name: Password: Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP Address: Proxy Orange Proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP Network Proxy (name:port): 192.168.71.35:9201 Type: WAP User name: Password: Endon (this is for my work wifi connection Connects from: Work Connects to: The Internet Proxy (name:port): proxy.xxxx.xxx.net:8080 Type: HTTP User name: Password: WiFi Endon Name: Endon Network Type: Private/Work Network Menu|Network key: Authentication: Open Data encryption: WEP []The key is provided automatically Network key: xxxxxxxxxx key index: 1 GM34Sandwick my home wifi connection (mac protected) Name: xxxxSandwick Network Type: Internet Menu|Network key: Authentication: Open Data encryption: Disabled []The key is provided automatically Network key: key index: 1 Internet Explorer http://wap.orange.co.uk/ the wap address I was told to use Options |Connections [x] Automatically detect settings.
