I am having problems syncing two c600's (mine and my wife's) with ActiveSync 4.1 on our home PC. Each time we swap the phones it wants to recreate a new connection via the connection wizard. (i.e. it fails to re-find the connection set up previously). I have one C600 and a PDA both syncing fine.

Advice from a microsoft messageboard is that this might be because the two c600 devices have the same device name and they suggest changing one of them to see if this fixes the problem. Any ideas how I might do this?

Assuming that your phone is application unlocked, you can change device name(ID) in 2 ways. Easiest way is to download trial of a program called Tweaks2k2 from Handango or smartphone.net site and use one of the hacks to change device id.

Other way is to download PHM reg editor program (also check mini SD card and/or CD that came with your device, Orange usually include this reg editor). Once installed,

Go to:

HKLM (local machine)>Ident

Click on Values to see device name, change the name to whatever you want. Reboot the phone. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I tried all that and still have exactly the same problem!! It's really annoying as we want to be able to sync both phones on the one PC.

Any other thoughts? ...

Well, I tried that with a USA TMobile SDA, and changing HKLM/Ident/Name to the name that I wanted. Then I plugged it into my machine, and activesync picked up the name change right away.
