I have lost my c500 charger & usb sync. should be able to use any 5 pin usb cable to charge it (like an mp3 usb cable )?

has any 1 tried the creative zen cable?

I don't think you actually need activesync now?

I installed xp 64 bit, plugged in the phone and it started charging.

This could be a 64 bit thing?

i tried the creative zen cable didnt work (did give it about a 5 hours the green light didnt come up)

tried the motorola razr 5 pin charger same result.

wht could be the problem battery or phone?

i m not in uk so its kind of tough to get the battery ...

phone issue? Motorola USB wall charger works for me in HTC devices, as does bog standard USB sync cable in a computer.

you know, even with shut down computer a orange light should appear on your smartphone (C600 for me) when plugged into mini USB cable... once i lost my mini usb cable and i tried to plug it with my mini usb cable for my wifi modem ( Wanadoo Live Box de France Telecom for frenchies who know!) and it worked!!! btw i can't remember if activesync worked with that...

in shop it is +-30-40euros to buy a new cable!! (in france)! go search for one one ebay.

Any slackness in the socket when you fit the cable? Can you see anything out of place looking into it? It could be that a solder joint has come away from the board - easy fix if so as the contact points are large and spaced away from each other so a basic soldering iron will be OK, or that the pins inside the socket are bent.

Check in the typhoon section for dissaseembly instructions, and once you have the board out of the phone, fit a USB cable and use a multimeter to check for continuity, then re-heat the joints with a small amount of flux. You shouldn't need a new socket unless there is significant damage to the inside but I do have them if you do. ;)
