Guest bluesmudge Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Hi, just a quick one - call button dead on c500 its going back to HTC for repair - Problem, its running an O2 sim card - will i need de-cert again? or reinstall the software that allows it to use o2? Does anyone know if i can request for that to be left alone? cheers
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 You can ask, but usually they'll flash the latest software onto your phone as standard proceedure...
Guest fluffcat1 Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 I've found they usually leave the software unless your issue requires a reset / reflash for diagnostics eg a camera fault. 9/10 of the last phones I've had done under warranty haven't been flashed, but I don't think you can specifically ask them not to flash it. Guest bluesmudge Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 cheers - i especially don't want them to flash it now i finally got O2 mms to work - god its nice to be in proper contact again ;)
Guest xda_gangsta Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 Yup, they don't flash the phone unless its completely dead. I sent in mine to Audiovox and they had to replace the phone, only problem was mine was unlocked, the one they replaced mine with was locked so I had to dish out more money to unlock it :@

They will flash the phone when it *isn't* dead, for example, if you are having poor call quality / GPRS issues that a newer rom fixes, or as in the case of some Universals, the radio reception is better for an older rom that is no longer available to download. We're talking about one specific service centre, not repairs in general, and I doubt you sent your Audiovox to Milton Keynes in the UK! ( Hauppage in NY IIRC ) Richard
