Guest Stephano87 Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 I just received my MDA Pro, and now I'm going to get a bluetooth headset. What I was wondering is can I use a stereo bluetooth headset on it? I've seen a few just a little more expensive then normal headsets, and I'm a heavy music listener, so that would just rock my world. Anyone got a clue? Thanks in advance.
Guest Confucious Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Doesn't stereo BT use A2DP? Which I believe is not yet available but will be supported in future ROMs - I could be wrong, it's not something I've looked into but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am.
Guest Pondrew Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 My understanding is the same as yours Confucious. That you need A2DP for stereo bluetooth and that very few devices presently have it (the Samsung i300 Smartphone has it and the HTC Blue Angel Pocket PC Phone can be patched to enable it). A2DP was expected to be included in the recent update to WM5 but was apparently left out due to problems...
Guest Stephano87 Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Thanks both for your quick replys. If I'd still buy one and use it on the phone without A2DP, would it just work mono, or not work at all? And is there any idea of when an upgrade might come. If it's like a month or two I could wait, else I guess ill settle for a normal bluetooth.

Go get the HT820 - bluetooth headset and stereo headphones all in one. Using them wirelessly with my exec using the new QTEK rom.

Guest skimber Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Am I missing something... the page for the MDA pro rom at the link above says this: File: UNI_TMUK_12032_120_10600_Ship.exe File Size: 60MB Software Date: 08/09/05 Download time: 1 hour 20 minutes or less on 56k connection / 15 minutes or less on Broadband Connection File Type: .exe Software overview: This version is the first production release of the MDA Pro. Next Release: The first maintenance release is expected early January 2006.
Guest Shuflie Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 (edited) No you're not missing anything, although the webpage says that it it the first production version of the ROM its actually newer than the one that gets sent out on a new device. Check your device info, the ROM on that site gives the following when installed: ROM version 1.20.32 WWE ROM date 11/16/05 (look at this date compared to the one quoted on the website, looks like they just put a new rom file on without updating anything else on the page) Radio version 1.06.00 Protocol Version 42.40.P8 ExtROM version 1.20.120 WWE With this ROM installed I can see bta2dp.dll in the windows folder, but don't have a bt stereo headset to test it out with. Astonishing - it works! Just out of interest - how did you find out they were hiding the new rom behind old rom details? Did you just install it on the off chance? Many thanks.
Guest Shuflie Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 (edited) The was a discussion about it on xda-developers, but I also looked at the file name, 12032_120_10600 seemed to be completly different to the numbers being reported by my original ROM version. Edited April 24, 2006 by Shuflie

Are there any release notes for this new version? I assume that this new version also has 'push email'! Does it have any other new features / bug fixes?? Clive
