Guest girobank Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Hi guys, Wonder if you can help me. I moved to O2 in November, but continued to use smart phone. From minute o2 sim was in phone, every now and again, certain phonecalls would start making terrible noises. Other person could hear me fine, but I couldn't hear a word they were saying. I thought that maybe it was something to do with smartphone and o2. So got a new phone through o2 (W800i - nice phone by the way) but this nuisance noise continued. Today, I got a C600 cos I missed the smart phone too much. Put o2 sim in and same old annoying noise. Back in the day, when i knew something about mobiles, it used to be that of the two regular UK frequencies, GSM900 and GSM1800 - o2 used both, but orange only used 1. Is this still the same? The reason I ask, is I wondered if it would be possible to disable the one that o2 only uses - the one that interferes with electrical things. I could just be talking crap, cos it's been a while since I had any knowledge of these things. Interested to see what you think of my theories. Should also note that a friend of mine also has the exact same problem. Both of us have been onto O2 about this, and had replacement sim cards and phones, but nothing works. They can't do anything else because as far as they are concerned, there is nothing wrong with the service that they provide. Thanks in advance. Paul
Guest w1ld Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Hey Paul. I know you posted this a long time ago, but I am experiencing a very similar problem with my new HTC Touch Dual on Orange UK. I have only had it for 2 weeks, and the 'noise' has only been occurring for the last week - but is getting worse. However, I don't hear the noise, but people I speak to do! It comes and goes, but sometimes could last for up to a minutes, and is very very frustrating. I have just spoken to Orange who recommended I take the handset back to the Orange retail shop and have it replaced. This is annoying, but I will be happy to do so if it cures the issue. However, it is very strange that you say it continued to occur for you with different handsets. I had a similar - but no where near as bad - issue a few years back on Vodafone UK with a Motorola SLVR. That time, 'I' heard the noise. Anyway, could somebody please offer any advice. Many thanks!
