Push email hosts \ providers

So - I have the phone - SP5, I have the update - that's imate, but now I need a provider to host an Exchange Mailbox and push me my email.

It was rumoured that Fasthosts were the people for the job but having spoken with them they have no plans to run with this push email service.

Has anyone any idea which company is a front runner on this?

Thanks!

1and1.'s offering looks pretty good for the price, £5.99/month (CLICK HERE)image-1896943-10375282 and features seem decent!

Now to negotiate a Plus discount... if only they'd reply to my mails ;)

£5.99 + VAT = £7.09/month.

Couldn't see any mention of push email though.

Nope - just called them - testing push email - try again in a couple of weeks.

Keep me posted in you find anyone else that is up and running with this.

This http://www.utica.nl/ company says they are running with it but they are based in the netherlands - might be an issue if you want some support - and a bit costly on international calls!

1&1 are only £5.99 per month.

(+VAT)

and you've got to pay in 6 monthly chunks it seems, so it's actually £42.23 for 6 months.

Looks like 1&1 for me then. They seem a bit slow setting up the account - they advise 1 hour - it's been 2.5 already and no notification!

Take a look at 4smartphone.net - $6.99 / month (for 1GB storage, only $3.99/month for 500MB) - works out to be about £49 per year. Setup takes about 10 mins !

clubimate.com offers a free exchange account when you register your phone with them (only if its an imate phone).

i dont know if they have sp2 running on it. I wasnt able to get mine to sync, but i didnt know the settings. Let me know if you figure it out.

You could always try Fasthosts http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/email but they seem expensive.

Fasthosts us Goodlink technology for push email. I set it up on my Imate Kjam and it worked ok, until the phone locked the nothing could be entered into the device. I had to do a hard reset to get it to work. To Fasthosts credit they refunded my money no problem at all. I am still looking for a good service but so far not found a reliable one. I emailed Goodlink about the problem and they promised to get back to me but I am still waiting so don't hold your breathe! The cost are not bad really.

I am using clubimate email and sync ok with the echange server but they do not offer push email and support is very bad from I-mate.

Did you manage to get 1&1 working? Any good?

I got sick of clubimate after trying for a while, the lack of 'push' support and the tiny amount of space make it worthless. I just signed up for a 15-day free trial with 4smartphone.net - plans from $4/month, multiple ways of getting data into my mailbox including hosting my MX records, seems good so far...

There are some scary negative reviews of 1and1 here.

Interesting. we've been with 1&1 for 3 years and I think they are OK. They are steadily getting better.

I'm with 1&1 too and haven't had a problem.

They are slow to respond to emails, but I've found that the answer I get back is generally full and clear.

I think the comments on that site are mainly from American customers

Just signed up for this at mail2 web. I used to use them ages ago just to check a couple of pop3 accounts at work, but they are doing a beta of a free hosted Exchange service. Even better is that you can get a personal Exchange account for $1.99 a month. You need to create an email address with them, but you can link other pop3 accounts to it as well.

I have a free account with them too and seems to work fine, I use it mainly for remote holding of my contact/calendar data incase the phone gets "borrowed."

Basic but it does exactly what it says on the tin. However, no true push e-mail support (that is what 'spacerace' and myself decided anyway in Thread: Push Email & Exchange Servers, Pros & Cons?

Would love to be found wrong on this though! ;) Also, the user 'spacerace' spotted in the Terms and conditions of mail2Web that "Also, not sure if you're aware yet, but found in the help section that they insert a small text advert at the bottom of all sent emails"

I have not had this yet when sending e-mails but this may come later.

On a separate note, I see that the business side of Orange has released the costs for their own Push E-mail service. I bet they release something to the individual customer in the future (hopefully with a reasonable data cost package as discussed at length).
