Guest munky^^ Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 I just moved and don't have broadband at home, which is a big problem as I work from home and need it ASAP, however it's going to take about 2 weeks to get it installed. I've been using GPRS on Orange, but #1 per Mb is too high for the amount I'd use during the day, plus the latency on GPRS seems to be extremely high (pings seem to come in at around 2 s.. i.e. 2000ms).. Anything else out there that might work, that's available now? I'd like unlimited transfer, or at least 200Mb. Don't really want to spend more than 40 quid.. even that is a lot, but need to get my work done... I've been looking, but I'm not hopeful ;) Currently on Orange with SPV C500.
Guest Swampie Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Orange PAYG has a £1 per day for 'unlimited' (1GB?) GPRS data. Just activate it each day and it'll run from then until midnight. Other option would be the W'n'W option on T-Mobile, £7.50 a month extra on a standard tariff for 'unlimited' GPRS. Exactly what the 'fair usage policy' limit is set at is still under discussion, but people believe it'll either be 40MB (as stated in an email someone got) or 1GB (which seems more likely, and is what I got told by a T-mobile insider). However, if it's just for 2 weeks - I'd say the Orange PAYG option is probably the best for you - no need to unlock your phone, no long costs, and probably cost you a max of £14 for 2 weeks usage.
Guest fraser Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Do any of your neighbours have open WiFi connections that you could borrow for a week or two? ;)
