Guest nugie Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 I'm trying to copy over a movie that I ripped then compressed with pocket Divx and it will only get through about a fifth of the copying process then progress bar resets to the beginning. I'm using windows xp and I have already compressed and copied smaller videos just fine. Maybe it is the file size? It is 299mb but I have a 1 gb mini SD that has only 584 on it right now. Anyone know what the problem might be?
Guest Brcobrem Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Hi, Search for the following: Tornado devices and miniSD compatibility, Which ones can they use? That's a 11/2005 post in the "Device Specific - Farady" group that discusses this issue. I just ordered a Kingson SDM/1GB card. After reading that post, I have made a support email to Kinston asking them if it is MLC or SLC type card. I have no idea if the Kingston/MLC problem exists on the newer HTC/Cingular 2125's, but I don't want to cut open the package an be another victum either. Also - Looks like MLC cards are good for 10,000 writes, however SLC cards are good for 100,000 writes. Regards, Brcobrem
Guest Tech Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 kingston sd cards are not supported on the SPV's it has been discovered sandisk or crucial are good ones ;)
Guest nugie Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Are you saying that there could be a compatability problem with the SD card...even though I have been using it already now for 2 months with no issues and have succesfully transfered music and short video files to it? I have had no trouble with it at all up to this point (is is Sandisk anyway, so decent quality I would think.)
Guest Tech Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 (edited) it can happen but I did not know the brand of miniSD you have - kingston is not compatible ;) if its a sandisk - should be ok. Tried to format the miniSD again and copying the files over? also how are you transferring it? via USB cable or bluetooth? to me as your saying that the progress bar resets itself back to the beginning tells me that the miniSD cards' FAT (File Allocation Table) has gone corrupt - and can cause this behaviour. So really, try reformatting the miniSD to clean it out and try again ;) Edited March 25, 2006 by Tech
Guest stev Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 hi,i've also been facing the same problem. however, when i try to copy the files from my computer to a card reader, thn after that putting the card back to my phone,it seems okiex.Maybe u can try transferring through a card reader instead. On the downside, there's still about 10% failure rate.Cause occasionally i'll still face the same problem.
