Guest Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 I'm looking for an alternative to using IE on my SP5 - is this possible? I'd really like one that would display forms better, support javascript etc. - am I asking too much ?

Guest Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 My I-Mate SP5 isn't listed on the Opera mobile page ?
Guest alinkent Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 My I-Mate SP5 isn't listed on the Opera mobile page ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Opera-mini works on the SP5/SP5m. There are some minor issues in selecting links though. You have to be fairly patient with the joystick selector. Instead of up/down as in PIE, Opera-mini works using right/left to highlight links on my device. Otherwise Opera works great. It's mcuh faster to load pages and resizes the entire page to fit the screen (PIE doesn't do that so well). It's a free trial, so you really have nothing to loose in trying it out.
Guest Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 @alinkent Thanks for your thoughts, I'll give it a look.
Guest pino63 Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Hi! What does the "PIE on the AKU2 update from Imate" exactly do? Can it read frames or java applets? Thanks. Pino.
Guest Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 I have problems with PIE loading certain websites and rendering forms / javascript forms correctly. Would this be corrected in the updated versions? Can anyone suggest a browser whcih allows this? Opera Mini is grand, but it sorta puts it's own take on the webpage.
Guest Bingo Accent Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Be aware that if you purchase Opera for SP, you are buying a licence for a specific phone. I've recently changed from a C500 to a C600 and tried installing yesterday, but my registration code wouldn't work - I then discovered this... http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=743 "If you have bought and registered a copy of Opera for Mobile and you get a new phone, you will not be able to use your registration code to register Opera on the new phone. This is because the registration code is generated with the phone's IMEI number"
Guest thenext1 Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 I would stick with PIE, now with that AKU2 update it has got even better. Opera may render pages faster, but its clunky, designed for an older OS and smaller screen size, fit-width mode works already better in PIE, and sometimes managing to click a link with the joystick is a hard task...
Guest Lobojpm Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Hi! What does the "PIE on the AKU2 update from Imate" exactly do? Can it read frames or java applets? Thanks. Pino. I'm curious about this too... Wondering what the upgrades are in PIE that comes with AKU2? Frames, landscape, etc? Anyone with AKU2 rom help on that? I wonder if opera will update their version for sp wm5... oy!
Guest hyedipin Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 While there are so many options on PPC's I cannot believe we are stuck with PIE or Opera on SP WM5....
