Seriously thinking of getting one of these next month as it's slimmer than the wizard (vario).

How come there aren't many posts on the charmer forum? Are there not many owners on here?

There's a few of us with the Charmer. It's a good device, just not as feature packed as the Wizard, Prophet and Universal models. I suspect most people who choose the Charmer do so as they want a Pocket PC Phone but don't want to stretch to the higher priced tariffs/devices.

For more info on the areas the Charmer excels in see my review here

Basically the Compact II makes a good entry level model for those wanting a WM5 Pocket PC Phone.

I think that with the prophet coming out people are holding on. The prophet has WiFi and from what I see a pretty ground breaking camera for a HTC device.

The prophet does look to include all the extra bits missing from the charmer but as yet Orange are the only ones to announce its release I believe. T-mobile seem to be the operator to go for at the moment.

The Charmer is a fairly new device so theres going to be less people with it, also i bet a good number of people rejected it on site because of the 'pink incident' ;)

If the new update includes wifi sdio functionality and aku2 then expect a good few more users to appear on the forum.

Unfortunately the fact that you have to pay per megabyte to surf with GPRS is a big turn off... so if that bothers you then wait untill you know if the new wifi drivers work before signing anything....if not then dont buy it, i dont hate the device itself but my wallet does!

my 2 bits

EDIT: In my daily search on this subject i have read unconfirmed reports that t-mobile is considering a flat rate of £7.50 per GB/month for GPRS users so if youre a very light internet user this might be acceptable. Again you'll have to wait and see in afraid.

Well I got my MDA Compact II 2 days ago. With the new unlimited GPRS tariff on T Mobile the lack of WIFI didn't seem such a big deal anymore.

I'm not too worried about the camera and the tariffs on T Mobile were working out about

Personally, I'd have paid the extra. WiFi is killer on PDAs, you have no tarrif worries no matter what you do. Plus the speed difference is really noticable, surfing the same sites on GPRS is painful. Oh, and I'm streaming radio at the moment and I was using Skype on it last night ;)

As for cameras...bah! They all suck.

I got mine two days ago too. after a shaky start i'm now really enjoying it. i've done a hard reset and it now seems so much more stable and quicker, despite putting all the t mobile stuff back on. I'm on the w n w flext 25. excellent not having to worry about usage. writing this on the mda now.
