Guest craigd Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Hi im trying to setup an Imate sp5 to be an alternative to my blackberry. My blackberry uses can acess my corporate email AND my personal email via the Blackberry Webclient. I know WM5 has the ability to do push email via Exchange Sp2 for my corporate email. But are there any services out there that i can use to check my hotmail and Pop mail to have them pushed to me? A manual sync from the PocketMsn doesnt cut it and i dont want to setup my pop client on the phone because i think it will use too much traffic to poll all the time. - i was thinking to have all my hotmail and pop forwarded to my exchange account then just have them pushed that way. But, you cant forward hotmail! ..... is there any way around this? Even the Blackberry Webclient can be setup to check hotmail.
Guest bluemonq Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 actually, you *can* forward hotmail...with a piece of freeware. it's called getmail. never used it (used hotmail only back in the day when it wasn't owned by microsoft), but i keep hearing good reviews about it. http://www.e-eeasy.com/GetMail.aspx
Guest jimbouk Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 If you have outlook 2002 sp2 or later, and subscribe to Hotmail Plus you can use outlook to get your hotmail email. Or you can use a web2pop app. Then all your mail will be collected by outlook, sync'd wth the exchange server and thus sync'd with your device. However, you will see data charges whichever way. I do use directpush and exepect to see about 5mb a month just for syncing - plus the actual content of the mails I sync. I find it better than blackberry.
Guest craigd Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Cool, ill try that. thanks for the tip.

One four hour downtime in 8 months - and they sent a very good email explaining the nature of the hardware failure.
Guest mini_man Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Hmm you dont need a plus account for outlook to sync with hotmail. Im using hotmail basic with Outlook 2002 on a win me pc. I would love to know how to sync my emails onto my device though through outlook.

For new hotmail accounts you need plus (or indeed for old accounts if you have never synched) By default AS syncs your outlook email but for proper push email you need Exchange server 2003 SP2 and AKU2
Guest jimbouk Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Confucious, he say Activesync. He right! Just plug the device into your pc with the USB cable, create a partnership and select it to sync mail. All items that outlook collects from all of your mail services will then be sync'd each time you connect. As Confucious say, if you have WM5 and either a corporate exchange server 2003 sp2, or rent an account from a host like 4smartphone, you can have directpush (but you have to leave outlook open on the pc to use it to collect from all the other mail accounts prior to syncing them up to the server).
Guest mini_man Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I have selected sync emails but it doesnt seem to?
