Guest scouser75 Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Guys, I'm a little embarassed tp say this, but I'm having major problems trying to understand and use the C600. (unfortunately, the person I bought the phone from did not send me the instruction manual!!) I've done a search on here and found most of the stuff a little to technical for me to understand - also searched google. So firstly, is there an idiots guide anywhere that will teach me how to install themes, ringtone, games etc? I also believe that I also need to install a special bit of software to be able to use certain themes? If so, where do I get this from? Secondly, is there any way I can change the function of the right soft key? Finally, for now, Can I switch my contacts from SIM contacts to Phone contacts? Any help is very much appreciated ;)
Guest Crispy Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Ok, firstly, how to install stuff; Normally you either get programs as cab files or windows installers. The windows installers you just run on your pc while the phone is connected with activesync. The cab files you transfer to your phone and open with the file manager. Themes you copy to \Application Data\Home. Ring tones I think is \My Documents\My Music. It also works if you transfer your music files to your SD card in \Storage Card\My Documents. For the right side button there is a good thread about it here, but let me give you the short version. Both the shortcut button on the right and left side point to the address in file in the windows folder. The path to the right one is stored in "SHORT_CAMERA" and the left one in "SHORT_POC". What you do is open up \Windows in explorer on your pc, copy the file to your computer, open notepad and then drag 'n drop the file into it. Then you edit it, save it and the copy it back to \Windows. A note though, you might also want to check out this thread about application unlocking. You will probably want to do it later. Hope this helps
Guest scouser75 Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Thanks Crispy for that. You've made it sound a lot easier now. Unfortunately, I've just realised that I can't install the Synch software to my gf's PC as she hasnt updated her XP... and she is not hooked upto the net to be able to do this! I have a Mac and am waiting for PocketPC.net to update the software to WM5.0. Hopefully I'll be able to download software, themes etc from here! Im dying to use the Mac theme from the download section on this site. It looks tops ;) Ok, firstly, how to install stuff; Normally you either get programs as cab files or windows installers.
