Is there any solution how to transfer files from my PC to HTC Tornado (QTEK 8310) with Wifi ?

Could anybody provide a complete guide how to do it?

Read your post, thought about it... And if you *really* need to do this, there is a way.

On your workstation, you would need to have a web site running in IIS, or a lightweight version of it.

From your phone's browser, http://[your machine name]/[virtual directory name]

Then, you could click the file and download it to your tornado... There is free WM5 software out there for download management as well.

I realize this is a little clumbsy, but it would work. The plus is that if you knew you had broadband, knew your ip number (or had a domain name), and setup your router properly, you would be able to download files from your pc to your phone from anywhere you had wifi internet access.

This may not be the solution you were looking for, but it would certainly work.

You can also use some freeware FTP-server on your host machine and Total commander CE (or any ftp-client) to browse and download files on your tornado ;)

from my experience this is not a good solution. most often when you want to download stuff to your phone over wifi this would be to your storage card. in wm5 there is no way that atleast i know of that you can download directly to your storage card, this means first you download to storage, then cut/copy the file to storage card. this method is really not good since you need to have alot of memory free in storage for big files, and therefor many files will not work at all... i recently saw on this forum somthing about activesync over wifi, that may be a way to do it...but a web or ftp server was definitly not a good way...thats my 2 cents =)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

When you are being asked about downloading the file

Click Menu

then Save AS (1)

This will let you rename and then set the location

Storage card or Main mem.

Sux that you cant set a default.

Mabey there is a default that can be set in the Reg. somewhere but thats over my head

Hope the workaround works though

Actually, the wifi/network sync was removed from ActiveSync. It's in 3.8, but not 4.0 or 4.1, and 4.0 or higher is required for WM5. So files over wifi through ActiveSync to a WM5 phone is not an option.

I'm afraid the only way to move files by wifi to a WM5 phone is a web protocol, whether that's ftp, http, or something else. No direct file access.
