My SPV C600 is fecked, any ideas?

Hi folks, my C600 has gone up the left.

The problem started last week, the main issues where slow response, and the joystick key not working correctly.

Also when booting up if I press the power on key for about a second I get the 3 colour bar screen with tornado on it, BUT if I hold done the power button the device loads as normal.

On the 3 colour screen it also says IU if this means anything.

I tried installing the new firmware from the orange site but that did not seem to fix it.

I tried doing the hard reset but the device will not reset, it just brings up the 3 colour bar screen.

To do the hard reset I held down the 2 function keys (the ones under the screen), while turning the device on. This is the correct way isn’t it?

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? Or is my c600 toast?

Thanks in advance.

Brian

to be honest you may be best sending it back to orange for them to fix, assuming its still under warrenty which I am sure it is.

To hard reset the device - it may be the same as the C500 (I am unsure) but you hold the camara buttong and the right soft key? I am unsure but there are various topics on this forum that tell you how to hard reset the device

I am sure that the orange CS would be able to (hopefully) tell you how to hard reset the device but on the last call, I would send it back to orange for repair ;)

A rom upgrade ( assuming it worked correctly ) would have the same effect as a hard reset - you have a reset copy of the rom loaded with no customisation. I would call orange to arrange a repair or book it in at www.htceurope.com if you are still having problems, orange may well pass you to 'technical support' where you may well be in limbo for a few weeks while they decide what's up. If you can live without the phone completley for 10 days or so send it to htceurope.

A hard reset for c500 / c600 is effected by holding the two function keys in and gently tapping the power button once. Dunno what the right softkey and camera button combo does? Maybe it's just the right softket and holding whatever other button else does nowt....when I'm bored later I might have a play.

Yeah something tells me its banjaxed. I am on to orange support.

Thanks

That's the bootloader screen, you shouldn't normally see it - you can force it to display holding the camera button in, if you cannot boot past it the rom is corrupt or missing. It has various version numbers displayed that have rom version etc.

I know this tread is ancient but it may be handy to other c600 owners...

most likely a knackered camera button...

have seen it a couple of times on the typhoon and my c600 did it the other day, luckily for me it was just stuck..

has your camera button lost its click, is the button sitting at a funny angle?

food for thought
