Record audio input as mp3?

Hi -

is there any applications that allow the smartphone to record an audio input? preferably as an mp3?

In terms of audio input i was hoping to be able to plug into the handfree jack, as these can obviously take an input for the microphone on handsfree.

im not sure but i think the sound recorders on the phone will work with a hands free kit, so in theory buying a headphone adapter that lets you plug in a mic and headphones should allow line in recording.

thats what i thought - that it would be possible to capture the line in audio. Might give it a try usinf vito audio notes tonight.

ANy other suggestions for software that might enable this?

Was wondering if anyone has had any success with this yet? When a headset is plugged in, does it then become the default line-in? This would probably mean you can record in quite high quality and (given the software) multi-tracking might be possible. Any suggestions on set-up and which adapter to buy would be very welcome.
