Guest ginosergio Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 (edited) I will try to avoid any word about what I think about Windows.... so maybe some MVP can help... Yesterday morning I turned on my smartphone (SPV C550 - Windows Mobile 2003 SE) and it said "adjusted for daylight saving..." (something like that, it was in Italian, like me). OK, GREAT !! Today, something strange.... none of my appointments come up with the usual bell that I use as reminder. But it was a busy day and I realized it only this evening, when I connected the SPV to my desktop PC and Activesync come out, and all my appointments come out in Outlook. So, what's wrong ?? I've done some search in Internet, forums, etc. Someone has problem with sync between PC time and Smartphone time; someone had his appointment one hour ahead on Smatphone, but nobody seems to have my problem: - My PC time is right. In Control Panel - date and time, I have "use daylight saving" checked. - My Smartphone time is right. In my Settings - date and time, i don't have an option to use daylight saving or not (but it used it, like I said before) - My appointments have the right hour, both on PC and phone. .....but..... IF I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 10.00 PM, it shows up on PC, BUT NOT ON SMARTPHONE. I'M GOING MAD.    I've already deleted the pairing in Activesync (v. 4.0.0), re-done the pairing, aligning appointments (PC overwrite Smartphone) but NOTHING CHANGE !! PLEASE HELP !!!! I have also disconnected phone from PC, created a new appointment ONLY on the phone, 3 minutes later. But nothing !!! 3 minutes later, NOTHING !! It don't show !!! I also have an homescreen that shows next appointment on last line. If the time is 10.05, and I have one appointment for 10.10 and one for 11:10, it shows 11:10 !!! It seems that the phone has the right time, but lives one hour ahead. PLEASE HEEEEELLLPPPPP !!!! ;) ;) Ginosergio Edited March 27, 2006 by ginosergio
Guest Tech Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 it shouldnt happen and most likely NOT to do with the daylight savings as my appt.s and millions of other people's smartphones have not had this. I would suggest removing the relationship from the mobile device and activesync and recreating the relationship.
Guest James Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 is it possible for you to do a hard reset? this will probably fix the problem but will wipe your phone back to how you first got it... what happends if you adjust the time manually?

I have already tried to remove - recreate the relationship between PC and SPV; but nothing change. :| This may not seems a daylight saving issue, but as I said, this happens today; and most important, in my homescreen I don't see an appointment if it starts within the next 60 minutes (I see the first appointment in the next hour). Thanks anyway.... ;) last thing: you said to remove the relationship from the mobile device. Ok, where ?? I'm digging in my menus but don't find any command to remove it. I can do it only from PC - Activesync. Ginosergio

What do you mean by "adjusting time manually" ?? Yes I can change the time in my phone and put it one hour back, but then I will have the wrong time. And... my phone has gone in "daylight saving" automatically, and I don't find any way in my menus to cancel this (like you have on PC, Control Panel.... etc etc.). I think this will be the right thing to do: cancel daylight saving from PC AND from smartphone; adjust time on both; redo the sync... Any registry hack for Win Mobile 2003 SE ??? thanks anyway... If nobody helps... hard reset, I know....  Ginosergio

Once they both boot back up, do a re-sync and see... This happened for me way back when I first got my sp5 in November... And I found NO WAY to resolve it, but back then, I could afford a hard reset which cured it. Then, last night, having a few issues, I found appointments recently entered into the phone, WEREN'T sync'ing to the PC... A reboot of both, and thankfully it seemd to fix it.

I also changed Activesync version, uninstalling 4.1 and installing 4.0, then uninstalling 4.0 and installing 3.8, and every time redo the pairing, and the re-sync. It don't help. AND, anyway, if I enter a new appointment in the phone, then sync, I find it on the PC; and if I enter a new appointment on my PC, then sync, I find it on the PHONE. My only problem is: No signs of life from the phone, when it reach the hour:minute that I set for my appointment. Thanks Ginosergio

Guest ginosergio Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 FOUND A WORKAROUND ! Why we always have to fight with s***, sometimes ?? I've tried to find a help in Microsoft knowledge base. No help, but a hint. Read this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907494/en-us It has absolutely nothing to do with my problem, but here it is what I've done: (I live in Italy, GMT+1) - on Phone, changed time zone to GMT+2, my phone was one hour ahead. - manually changed time back one hour. now if I put an appointment on my phone, it rings when it reach the right time. WEIRD, HUH ??  IT RINGS !! ;) Let's go with Activesync. I connect the phone to PC. It sends the right time to the phone. Again one hour ahead. But thanks God, after some try I leave Activesync 3.8 and can disable this (Why this option is gone in Activesync 4 ?) - change back the time on phone. Now I have the same time on phone and PC. - sync my appointments and it works, but on phone they are one hour ahead (PC lives in GMT+1, phone in GMT+2) - change PC time to GMT+2; adjust manually one hour back. - re-sync Now all seems to work.... Thanks Bill.... What a boring life would be, without you....
