Guest michehrlich Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 If you go to Microsoft's Windows Mobile site (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx), they are showing all WM 5.0 phones and PDAs with this gorgeous GREEN home screen. The only color schemes available on my phone (SP5, WM 5.0 AKU2) are "Default" and "Guava Bubbles". Strangely, Guava Bubbles makes everything red. Anyone know how to get that nice green?
Guest furby Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I was just looking for this as you mentioned it. Must be around somewhere
Guest ma1234 Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/themes.mspx here??
Guest michehrlich Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/themes.mspx here?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup, there. Thanks! But it doesn't work right -- my Today Screen looks all weird now. Is there something I'm doing wrong installing it? I thought you just had to copy it over to your My Documents folder and then choose it in the appropriate settings (this is SmartPhone, not Pocket PC). Anything I'm missing?

Guest furby Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 (edited) Well thought I would go all out to find this. (work is boring today) Google was no real help and the microsoft mobile site is not so great. So e-mailed microsoft. No Joy. So gave them a ring, after a pointless call to Shruti in "Leeds" (ye right) spoke to someone at Microsoft in Reading. Nice guy, but kept trying to plam me off. Was persistent enough to get an email from someone from windows mobile. Also trying vodafone. I'm taking this too far aren't I? Edited March 29, 2006 by furby
Guest Webreaper Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I'm taking this too far aren't I? Given the green screen isn't as nice as the blue one, yes. ;)

Simply unzip all of these and copy into into \Application Data\Home on your phone. The 'home' screen is very similar to the default and has a slightly smaller font than normal. I like to have a lot of info on the homepage. It's adapted from the homescreen that 'Smartphone GPRS Monitor' uses. You can use the 'scheme' alone without the homescreen though. More info on creating home screensgreen.zip
Guest Harroguk Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Anyone made any progress with this? If someone can rip the background image .jpgs out of the PPC versions of the theme then I will spend this weekend putting together the .xml for the home screen as best I can.
Guest dstevens Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Give this a try. Save this file in Windows>Start Menu>Accessories and then go to accessories and launch the file. Should load as your background and color.WindowsGreen.hme

I guess what we need is a PaintShop master to either closely reproduce this or someone to actually use a PDA to install the theme and then rip the .jpg out of it. Good job with the color scheme though. I will be using that whilst I find a higher quality version of the background and write the .xml.
Guest YLA G Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 what about that developers today screen in green from microsoft?
Guest Harroguk Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 what about that developers today screen in green from microsoft? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because it is a Today screen and not a Home screen it doesnt work on smartphones. All I am trying to get is the background image from that screen. Unfortunatly I have no PDA so I cant do it myself.

They are pixilate so I did a litte sharpening and burning of the images to darken them. The first has suttle burning in the midtones and the second version has more burning in all three tones. If I have more time I may try to clean up the pixilation. Edited April 5, 2006 by dstevens

Let me know what you think. I am having a problem with the color scheme, when I go to email, any phone number or email address doen't show. I can highlight them but I can't see the number. How do I change the color in the xml? Thanks. Fixed the issue with the white text. Attaching the xml file or color scheme. Edited April 5, 2006 by dstevens

Guest dstevens Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 I would like to change the background color and image in the start menu. Can someone help me with that? I have the 2125 and the start menu background is blue and has the Cingular logo. Thanks in advance.
Guest Harroguk Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Here is the xml file. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Looking good. Thanks for the cleaned up jpg too. This weekend or maybe my lunchtime at work I will start writing WindowsMobile.home.xml so that it looks as much like the today screen as I can make it. Should have it posted here next Monday or sooner if I get time during my lunch hours.
Guest alinkent Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Check out Juni's site for a decent MS Mobile Green Theme. Juni's MS Mobile Themes Note: You'll need the plugins mentioned at his site to make this look as shown. All the details (including links) are mentioned on the site.
Guest dstevens Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 (edited) Here is one more. I cleaned up the Windows Flag and here is what it looks like on my phone. I was at Microsoft today and several employees there have the 2125 and they all loved the homepage. By the way, this is the first time I have ever created a home screen and edited an xml file. Very enjoyable. Attached is the zip file with the two files you need to make it work.....Enjoy!!Windows_Mobile_Green.zip Edited April 7, 2006 by dstevens

I find too many homescreens are just filled with addons that display too much info, this is nice, simple and looks the bee's knees. All we need now is for someone to move the thread into the downloads section so other people can discover it.
Guest furby Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Do I just put this in Storage/Application Data/Home folder? It doesn't show up in the homescreen options. (The picture appears, but not the theme)

Guest dstevens Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 change the file name to windowsmobilegreen.scheme.xml it should work then. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I changed the name of the xml file in the zip and added a bitmap image with the Windows flag removed so you can change the background screen in the Start Menu. Save the bitmap image and with a reg editor do the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MAC>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Shell>Rai>MSStart go to values and select BKBitmapFile Select the Value data: and type in the path of the WMG bitmap (i.e.\application data\home\wmg.bmp) EDIT AT YOR OWN RISK. I'm not responsible for issues cause by editing the reg.
