Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I've got a C500 and before my Orange e-mail worked fine, now it says "verify network coverage... check account info is correct"... my username used to be this weird letter/number combination, but I've been on Orange.net and it says: email address : your mobile [email protected] i.e. [email protected] email alias: this can be found by clicking here email/POP3 username : your mobile [email protected] i.e. [email protected] Password : your existing sign-in password Mailbox type : POP3 Incoming (POP3) server : pop.orange.net Outgoing (SMTP) server : smtp.orange.net So I've tried this, but it doesn't work either, what's going on? I know GPRS works, because I can browse the internet fine. Help!
Guest skanna Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 My email is screwed too. I've had an orange.net email account for years. Now all of a sudden it doesnt work. I get the same message. What is worrying is that I tried on a PC and the email account appeared not to be configured. All stored messages and contacts were lost. Apparently there is a server upgrade! Hopefully should resolve today according to OCS. The email account is important to my work. I've noticed that the text alerts have stopped .
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 Hey thanks for your reply! Glad to hear it's not just me with the problem (I mean that in the nicest way of course!) Hopefully yes it will be running soon, but do we use the new details e.g. [email protected], or our usual password etc.? I'm guessing it'll probably be the new way. And my text alerts seem to be always have been working fine, but then again maybe it's because I only get a few emails (about 7 in last week). Keep track of the topic!
Guest hotphil Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 They had a service outage - they had a notice up on their website for a while advertising it. All should be OK now and you should now also have received an email from them explaining that the account names are being changed at end of April. If you don't amend your client settings by then you won't be able to access the account.
Guest sleighty Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 Thank God its not just me! However Orange Technical don't appear to know what's happening, they've been trying to sort mine out for nearly three weeks.! Text alerts seem to be easy to sort out - use a pc and go to orange website, sign in using NEW details ie: username= [email protected]; go to email manager: options: text alerts: - they will be set to ON but further down the page select Notify all messages: you can also choose when to receive alerts. Better system - badly implemented! :x My email is still off. I've set up an alternative account at ntlworld.com and can access that with no problems from my phone. Orange keep saying its my phone that's the problem! It seems to me to be the new Orange servers as I can't send or receive through them on my phone.

I can still log in on the net as normal, but noticed I think text alerts have been off for a few days, not tried my phone yet, tried it last night last night though, didn't work. And I've just noticed the email from them saying I must make changes to my settings. Tried my phone, with new settings, still not working.... And the tale continues...

And the tale continues... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I got it sorted! - on PC go to Orange home, click email; then email selector; choose set up for phone and then phone make Orange, choose spv m500, this gives list of instructions to set up service and account similar to what I've been told before , BUT SLIGHTLY different. follow all EXACTLY, use your [email protected] as username and your usual password, except where they say 'use orange or leave blank'. After all the above, my new account worked 1st time, send and receive ! good luck!

My settings are as follows: Your name: [simply my name e.g. Toyota-F1.com] Email address: [normal address e.g. [email protected]] User name: [[email protected] e.g. [email protected] - I've even tried the previous username that was similar to ab7fb9gt] Password: [My password used to log on to Orange.net on the internet, and I can log on so it must be correct] Domain: [empty] Incoming server: pop.orange.net Outgoing server: smtp.orange.net [the checkbox is ticked, because it used to work like that, but also tried it unticked] That's it. So is it still down? Any more feedback please? ;)
Guest M1DUL Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 Yesterday on My PC using Outlook My Orange E-Mail stopped working and My Orange E-Mail on my phone was working but Now today they have both stopped working. I have changed my Username to My Mobile No. @orange.net and it still does not work for me. I can not even log onto my Online account/E-Mail on the Orange Website when I try to log on first I get these errors: Sorry Unfortunately we are currently experiencing a technical problem. Orange are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it. Please try again later. go to Orange homepage Then when I try to log on again I get this Error message know: sorry A previous session already exists for this user. Please log out from the previous session before attempting to sign in to this page There is not Log out on the Website ether I have not been able to log onto my online account for quite a long time. & I have sent quite a few E-Mail to Orange customer service and they have not help at all, all they say is that they have logged my query with our technical team, please try again in 10 days. And it still never worked after those days. So yes it is still down but in a big way.
Guest hotphil Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 I had problems all day with accessing my Orange email account remotely/online. Think they may have had a problem that's now fixed. What a treat that they've all just coming flooding through in one big lump to my Inbox!
Guest hotphil Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 Has anyone else used the new Email Manager when logged in to the Orange site? Looks like they'll now collect emails from other providers. Is that new too? Will be quite useful to receive SMS's each time an email is sent to any of my inboxes.
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Anyone any progress? I've been on the phone to Orange, we've had quite a few calls over the week, trying different things out. They've been through my settings with me, and still didn't work, they tried my e-mail account settings with another handset that they have, and they said it worked fine on theirs. Now I have also tried with exactly the same settings on my SPV E200 that I have, but it doesn't work on that either, so I reckon it's an Orange problem. They've told me I need to go to an Orange shop and they'll try out the settings, and if it's wrong, then they'll send another handset or something. Personally, I think it's Orange's e-mail thing that still doesn't work. Please reply with any progress you might have made.
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Hello could somebody reply please and update us (or me)? Thanks.
Guest hotphil Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I think I had to specify the ports of the incoming/outgoing servers last time I set it up. Have you been to the Orange shop like they suggested? The service has been fine for me for several weeks now.
Guest wildcardspv Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Hey guys, I work for Orange and have no idea why this is happening, but i have a C550 and I get the same error message to (.....verify you have network coverage and try again) I found if I switch off, remove and replace the sim, and once its back on retry uploading/downloading my emails it works first time. A pain I know, but it seems to work until they gort it out properly. Hope this helps some of you. wildcardspv ;)
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 First of all, thanks all for replying. wildcardspv, I tried your method just now, still doesn't work. I went to the Orange shop and, taking the mick, they took 50 minutes to begin to help - and there were two staff, and 2 customers, including me. I even took out my Psychology notes and began revising, for 20 minutes. I was told to do a hard reset (by the technical people on the phone who told the phone trainer to tell me) because basically they reckon I've changed the operating system ('cos I've installed the mac dx_osx homescreen which has MAC OS X shutdown and startup screens) so I simply changed them back, no way can I do a hard reset. So then I went back, and he tried to phone Orange, but couldn't get through, so then told me to phone them, which I did, and they said the they'd phone the Orange shop, but instead they sent me a text saying I need to go to Orange and tell them to phone the technical people. Flipping heck I have to work so hard in this! Basically, once they have a fault code, I get a new SPV C500. On which I'm 95% sure the Orange Email won't work.
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 (edited) FIXED! OK, BASICALLY, I had to call Orange, because they never phoned in the morning like they said they would. Now, AGAIN, this person made me go through the flipping settings again. However, IT WORKED! And this is why: First of all, my e-mail settings are correct (just as they describe them on the Internet [and above]). As you may know, I have a Pay As You Go Handset. My account to use GPRS used the accesspointname payginternet (which allowed me to happily connect to GPRS WAP internet, including the Orange home page). He told me to select a new account (the one that I thought was for contracts (well it used to be anyway)), and this one is as follows: Name: Orange GPRS Access point: orangeinternet User name: [blank] Password: [blank] Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 [this is automatically input - do not enter this data] Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 [this is automatically input - do not enter this data] IP address: [blank] [The GPRS connection I used to use to connect using my PAYG phone is as below: Name: PAYG Internet Access point: payginternet User name: [blank] Password: [blank] Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 [this is automatically input - do not enter this data] Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 [this is automatically input - do not enter this data] IP address: [blank] ] Summary: Note that I am: -still using my PAYG phone -and still am able to connect to the internet on my phone (e.g. Orange World) -and send/receive Orange email -using the previous 'contract-only' internet connection. Hope this helps everybody, and hope you can all now happily use Orange email on your devices! Let us know how you get on! Edited May 15, 2006 by Toyota-F1.com
