why do i have to hard reset always

i'm using I-mate PPC & my problem was that it always hangs or turns off automatically if i left it unused for several hours

this does not happen when i'm charging it

i have to reset it and all my data stored was lost....

is there any solution for this

Sounds like a hardware problem, e.g. something up with the battery.

Once it gets turned off, will a soft reset wake it? Or only a hard reset? And is the battery low/flat at this point?
