Problem with some themes...blank when dialling no?

I have a Qtek 8300 and it seems that whenever I use a homescreen theme that is not a default theme (i.e. not Microsoft), and I try to dial a number from the homescreen, the DTMF sounds work, but the screen either turns blank or it sticks to the homescreen. Any ideas why this should happen?
