Guest Dark Jupiter Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 I am wondering if anybody can help. I am a total newbie so please bear with me as I attempt to describe the problem I am having. I have an SPV E200 from Orange Netherlands. I had no problems with the phone in the Netherlands however I emigrated to Sweden in 2004 and changed operators from Orange to Telia Sonera. Soon after I inserted the new Telia SIM card the phone started to run an "add config" function which took a couple of minutes. At the end of this config it says "Finish, Press OK to restart the device". When I press OK the device reboots and upon startup throws me back into the config cycle. The upshot is that I cannot use the phone at all. If I press the home key it will display my main screen but after a few minutes it jumps back to the "Finish, Press OK to restart the device" screen. Not being a phone whiz, huge understatement, I spoke to the operator. Telia Sonera advised me to reload the operating system. I found a site at www.smart.com.ph and I attempted to update the operating system from their downloads. I attached the phone to the PC using activesync. I attempted to load the software but I get an "error 117 Invalid model ID" and I cannot proceed. I have used hard reset to see if I can restore the manufacturers default settings but the phone stays in the config loop. I was in London last week and the guys on the Orange helpdesk advised me to reinstall the operating system from the manufacturer however, I would have to return the phone to them? I did not do this because I did not get the feeling they actually knew what they were talking about. I really need this phone and I cannot afford to buy another at the moment. Is there anybody who could kindly advise me on a solution to this problem. Many thanks
Guest Dark Jupiter Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Having read through tons of information on how to fix the E200 problem I have. I am none the wiser. Is there anybody gracious enough to help me? I have spent at least 4 hours trying to find info and then trying to understand what it means. My brain is totally fried. Can somebody help me pleaseeeeeeeeeee I am stuck up in the north of Sweden in the artic and my only hope of getting this phone working is via some kind person on this site. Thanks
Guest fluffcat1 Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 What country was the phone originally supplied from? You would need to trun the update from orange for that particular country. If you are unsure, email me the seriel under the battery and I will try to check it. Have you followed the hard reset instructions in the e200 / voyager section? http://www.modaco.com/HTC_Voyager-f45.html Richard
Guest Dark Jupiter Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 I received the phone from Orange Netherland when I was an employee there. (All the staff in the Dutch head office received an E100 as a trial and we were encouraged to use them as much as possible to test the product). The phone was supplied in Holland by Orange. I upgraded to the E200 and then had it replaced by another E200 because there was a problem with the first. The serial number is HT342D182035 When I first came to Sweden the phone was network locked and I contacted Orange Netherlands and they gave me a code to unlock it. As soon as it was unlocked and I had installed the Telia sim the config problem started. It would appear as soon as I connected to the Telia network something was downloaded to the handset and it ceased to function. I have conducted a hard reset a number of times and the phone reboots fine but after a few seconds the config starts to run. (I followed the hard reset instructions in the HTC Voyager section as you suggested but to no avail). I cannot use the phone it always asks to "press any key to reset". If I press the home key during the config I get the desktop screen until the config is complete and then it says "press any keep to restart", therefore I cannot use the phone as it stays in this restart, config, restart loop. I need to find the update from Orange however, I first need to get access to the phone as each time I try to do an update via my PC, which runs WIN2000, I get error 117 and my access is denied. What would you suggest I do next? Thanks for taking the time to help me with this I really appreciate it. Regards
Guest fluffcat1 Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Force the phone into bootloader mode before it boots ( search the voayager section for instructions ) then run the update available from the orange netherlands site - that should work but you may need the unlock code again, although if you do and cannot find it, other methods are available. Guest Dark Jupiter Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 I am still stuck? I must admit that I had real trouble understanding what you meant by the "force the phone into bootloader mode before it boots" and I cannot find the update on the orange netherlands site. Basically I have terrible trouble even finding information on this site as I am not a techie. I read through the sections you advise but there are between 30 and 40 pages of threads sometimes and it takes hours. There is a ton of techie language that I don't understand either! Believe me I am trying as I don't want to be a free loader however I am failing miserably. If I use the search facility I can't find info either. For example, I am getting error 117 everytime I try to update the phone however, I cannot find any reference to this on the site nor how to overcome it. (Sorry for the rant but I have spent about 24 hours in total this time trying to fix this phone, I gave up the last time which was at the end of 2004 after wasting about 2 whole days on the problem). I think it best to break the info down into step by step idiot proof chunks so I can understand. First I don't seem to be able to get into the phone from the PC as I keep getting error 117. (Each time I sync the phone I have to create a new partnership) Can you tell me how I get past this first step before I move on to more complex matters? Once again thanks for your help.
Guest fluffcat1 Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 I can't post direct links to the orange netherlands site rom as it's against forum rules, but it is there. Upgrading the rom is covered step by step in many threads, such as in this one: http://www.modaco.com/FIX_10Percent_upgrad...em-t113705.html I can't help you any further, sorry. Google is your friend... Richard
