Guest r3m0t3 Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Hi everyone! I run Activesync 4.1, just downloaded from Microsoft on Windows XP SP2. It's a fresh install... I also run Norton Antivirus 2006 and Norton Systemworks 2006 both up to date via LiveUpdate. Since I installed Norton Antivirus 2006 and Systemworks 2006 I am unable to sync my phone. After setting up the partnership it gets stuck on "Looking for changes". I did a bit of research on the internet and found out that many others have this issue as well. It appears to be caused by Symantec software. I followed instructions on the net and put activesync on the exception list in Norton Antivirus 2006. I added all the Activesync ports on the "permit" list. I tryed everything but still doesn't work. Any efficient solution for this? Please help! There must be a way hold on to Norton software and use Activesync 4.1 in the same time...
Guest r3m0t3 Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Update I uninstalled Norton System Works 2006 and Norton Antivirus 2006. I also uninstalled Microsoft Activesync 4.1 and reinstalled it. I performed a hard reset on my C600. First time I try to synchronize it's all well. Second time I get "Looking for changes..." for ever. What is going on with this phone? Do I have to reinstall windows xp a thousand times to get this to work???
Guest r3m0t3 Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Here is the activesync log from my C600. Can anyone make anything out of this gibberish? How can I restore synchronizing Activesync with my C600 without reinstalling Windows XP again? Now I just have the windows firewall which I disabled. I reinstalled Activesync, hard reset the phone over and over again. It synchronizes the first time I try it and then it locks on "Looking for changes". It drives me nuts...CtrlLog.txt
Guest r3m0t3 Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Update... I formatted my hard drive, installed Windows XP Professional with SP2 + all updates from Windows Update website. I also did the hard reset a thousand times on my C600. I installed Activesync 4.1. I installed no other software than Yahoo Messenger and a few drivers. Windows firewall is disabled. This time when I plug in my C600 Activesync says "Not connected" although the icon is green as if connected. I tried everything... I don't know what I have done to deserve this... Even on a fresh install of Windows XP... I have a second computer at home with Activesync 4.1 installed and I tried my C600 on it. It connects and synchronizes swiftly without fault. What could be wrong? Please tell me what to do...

Guest Tech Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 norton does this and has its own way of blocking such actions even if you tell it not to block. dont install norton. use the Windows Firewall and as for anti virus, install norton antivirus alone or the beta of Windows Onecare. All your problems will be solved. It's the way norton is unfortunatly. you shouldnt have to format your computer jus for this - that is a bit too extreme and really shows the type of software that is being created today (norton) on how much impact it can have and inconvenience caused.
