screen loose? MDA Pro / HTC Universal....

Hi all,

I just received my TMobile MDA Pro.. very impressed BUT my screen jiggles EVER so slightly..

When the screen is down (both closed clam OR as tablet) - it is very solid, BUT when I open it to laptop - the screen jiggles../ is this standard?? / it isn't bad enough for me to send it back by any means BUT if everyone here_ tells me that there is definetly NO jiggle at all then I may just have to.. I mean barely noticable but it is there.. less than a mm either way..

SO.. anyone else got a jiggle on their screen?

hmm do you mean the whole screen bit (the clamshell bit that folds up) or just the actual lcd? and does it jigle forwards and backwards or side to side (of you know what I mean!)

I just checked mine (the whole "top" bit) - it seems pretty tight but swivels round easily enough... I cant see any obvious way to tighten it. Mine is an M5000 from Orange and I am betting that if I took it into an Orange shop they would be able to tighten it up...

Does it move about if you turn the phone upside down so the screen points down and move it about? I guess the main thing is if it is not bothering you too much and its not getting worse its no big deal. Small things like that do tend to annoy me however!

Yep; the whole clamshell - not the LCD - everything seems tight but it seems that the clam just sits a TEENSIE bit loose on its hinge...

I just wanted to know if anyone else has the same or is it solid as rock??

I really mean the clam jiggles when open, about half mm each way - when its closed it is perfect just when open..

anyone else!? Please.. I need to know whether to send back to T-Mobile

My friends MDApro does seem to move more than my Exec but it doesn't seem to be a problem. If it works I wouldn't worry about a bit of movemt.

mine jiggles a little, not enough to send it back tho---solid as a rock when closed, there are a few screws when you twist the screen--i might try and give them a quick tweak

EDIT:-- all screws are tight as tight can be so no getting rid of the wiggle that way

Doubt it will do much - the hinge tightness is a function of the pressure applied by a convex washer in the pivot. No way I can see of 'tightening' it without removale from the hinge, bending and re-fitting. Wouldn't like to do it myself. Can post pics if people want. The screws just hold the cosemetic covers to the hinge, it's the 2 inside the casng that provide the main support.

p.s one screw in the hinge is under a warranty sticker so be careful.

I do have some hinges if someone has a unit out of warranty and needs one :-)

Mine moves slightly as well. It seems to have got worse from when I got it, but I guess thats just usage.....

Also, if you have insurnace it will be replaced if there is a fault with it.......I guess it will anyway!

My old M5000 handset had this problem every so often. If it does start to get alarmingly loose, then swivel the screen 90 degrees and there should be a single phillips-head screw on the left-hand side of the base section (just above the USB port). This is the one you need to tighten up. I shouldn't worry too much about taking this section off and having a look around as long as you're careful.
