hi

just got an spv c550. tried unlocking the device but it wouldnt have any of it. not that bothered about unlocking it but now it wont play music. it'll play the ringtone (an mp3) when the phone rings but not when i got into settings-sounds or when i play mp3's using media player. not sure if trying to unlock it did this. any ideas on how to fix it? was looking forward to using it as an mp3 player on a trip this weekend.

many thanks

I had exactly the same problem with mine, only managed to fix it by taking it apart and then re-assembling..

bit of a drastic measure for a brand new phone though, and of course it will void your warranty...

PS unlocking IS worth it

I don't see how dismantling the phone will help. The most drastic solution would be to hard reset but we may be able to avoid that.

What did you do to try and unlock the phone ? I assume we're talking application unlocking.

Also, have you installed any other software that might be causing a problem here ?

You are right that it makes no sense, It's just what worked for me. I had had the problem for around six weeks, tried hard resetting with no luck, got no joy from Orange and so learned to live with it.

Two weeks later I took the phone apart to clean inside the screen, when I put it all back together again everything worked!

My guess is it was just a loose cable or ribbon in there

I don't know if my suggestion will help but worth trying before a hard reset. Smartphone Registry Fixes, install the MP3 Fix:

Restart phone after a successful installation.

if the files are located on the Storage Card, you might try reformatting the MiniSD card (using your pc). This was what helped with mine. I got an error message everytime i tried to play an mp3 with WMP, but now it is fixed.
