Guest chickyd Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 I think there's another thread about this but I can't find it!! Removed skype last night - think it's been properly slowing down my 9100 - and now getting a 'cannot execute skype' error every time i bring it out of standby. I understand some other folk have been having this problem and am hoping it doesn't involve doing some reg edit which i've never done before and would rather avoid. Thanks.
Guest Webreaper Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 It's a royal PITA - I used the uninstall which left most of the files and a whole bunch of registry entries behind. I cleared out all of the registry entries by hand (!) and deleted all the files, but I must have missed some because I still have a 'Call with Skype' option appearing for contacts in my contact list. It's put me right off Skype - if they can't write a proper (un)installer, what can they do? I mean, it's not a hard thing to do.

Thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had the same problem, was really annoying. Can't rememebr how I got rid of it but I just googled the error and this sounds familiar. go to http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html and download the "checknotifications" app. When you run it you will see a notification for skype.exe, delete it.
Guest travisb Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Can confirm that checknotification does the job
