Hi people,

Just inviting a few of your valued opinions to help me decide, so here's what I'm contemplating -

Been using HTC Wizard since Nov. last year and am really pleased with it. However, I have not once used the slide out keyboard - email from home pc, text very limited. So I am therfore considering a swap for the ever so slightly smaller dimensions of the TMOB Compact ll or the extremely sexy Prophet.

So guys, am I a fool to consider such a swap or should I go for it?

Will I be missing any other feature of my Vario that i havent thought of?

All your views will be greatly appreciated, so a big thanks in advance.

Just one more thing guys - if I decide to swap, anyone know any good sites or methods to try? Cheers,

George

Well, if it was me I would keep the Wizard. The other devices might be smaller, but you should'n underestimate the power of a keyboard. You might not have used it yet, but you might do that later, right?

I'd be going for the Tmobile MDA Compact II (CP) deal. It may not look much smaller, but put each one in your pocket and the MDA Compact II is significantly smaller. Also, the deals are pretty good at the moment. If you get the CP deal from the Tmobile site, the CP means you get Co-pilot sat-nav thrown in. And with the advent of the the £7.50 "unlimited" data tariffs they're doing, for me it's the only network to consider.

Cheers for the thoughts guys.

Any others wanna offer some input, cause I'm absolutely none the wiser about what to do - though the CP deal at TMOB sounds tasty.

I use a Prophet, and (since replacing the cruddy Dopod build with the classy iMate one) it's just great.

Having said that I was at a conference the other day and wanted to update a Word document that I had to send back to the office that day. I did it with the stylus and it was OK. Not fun, but bearable. But a keyboard would have been very welcome at that point.

Screen size was the next issue, and a VGA screen would also have been better. Hey ho.

But, if these aren't things you do often (it's the first time in several months that I had to do it) then I'd go for the Magician or the Prophet. They really are an almost perfect form factor IMO.

Thanx chucky. egg

I am swinging towards the Prophet with its vastly improved camera, but why oh why didnt they chuck in 3g with this device - it would have been the ultimate. And another hold up is that TMOB dont seem to be bringing in the Prophet and as far as tariffs are concerned TMOB are way out on their own presently.

OMG - I've just convinced myself to wait and see again.......................I think.

I spent ages looking into this, and tried some hands-on (and 'in pocket') tests to see how much different the XDA Mini S (Wizard) and M500 (and hence M600/Prophet when it's released) would be. In the end there wasn't a huge amount of difference - same weight, the Wizard's fractionally larger, but the keyboard is an instant winner for me, I can knock out a long email super-quick with it, whereas the on-screen keyboard and hand-writing recognition are limited (even though they work well for small jottings).

It basically depends what you're looking for. The Prophet and Wizard are effectively the same machines - there's very little difference other than the camera and the keyboard. If the camera's important, go for the Prophet. If you've really had a Wizard for a year and haven't ever used the keyboard, I'd go for the Prophet, as the slightly slimmer form-factor is always a bonus.
