Vario Noob Questions

Sorry if these are a bit noob-like but I don't have access to a Vario or clone and my local retailers are totally unhelpful.

I'm looking at the Vario (now) or the Vario II in August when its due to be launched and my contract is for renewal.

1) Messenger - does PocketMessenger alert you when you receive Hotmail email like with the Windows versions?

2) Keyboard - can it be used for games and emulators?

3) Has anyone run DosBox on a Vario... any good?

4) Any other emulators that run well on a Vario?

5) Any annoying bugs? A friend visited today and told me of a nasty bug on his M500 where it looses the GPRS if it cannot connect once it gives up. Anything likewise on Vario?

4 - Not a big emu fan sorry!

5 - Only specific to WM, not just the Vario. Eg, wifi disables in standby mode, the screen can't be "locked" to landscape when the keyboard is hidden etc...

Annoying but not common. I can activesync all my devices absolutely fine, and have no reboot issues, as do the majority of users ;)

I don't want to go through the issues of getting it changed, I like my phone ;)

I use connect my Vario to my PC via ActiveSync about 4/5 times a day minimum. Not had any issues with it crashing - only problems I've had is when the hub it syncs through goes weird and everything stops working - not just activesync.

Never had the phone restart on it's own.

Never had the phone lockup for crash.

I've had my Vario for 2 about 6-8 weeks I think.

I have NEVER had issues with Active Sync or it randomly rebooting ... I <3 my K-JAM <3

I have odd Activesync issues too- sometimes it fails to sync and the handset slows to a crawl (in the sense that it's so slow it's unusable- not just annoying.)

I'm hoping that a hard reset will fix it, once I get around to backing up all the important stuff on there. But like daftveggie, I like the thing too much to want to return it... It says more about us as users than the OS, I suppose, but it's sad that on Windows Mobile 5, we still seem to be putting up with "early adopter syndrome"...

Hey, I just thought too... Regarding not being able to lock the screen... you can however change the orientation within the Screen settings. ;)

EDIT: Just tried it then, and that is totally gay... It changes back once you slide the keyboard back in ;\
