SPV M500 PC Connection Frustrations

Just recently upgraded to a brand spanking new Dell 1100 Dimension PC.

Installed the version of Activesync that came with my Orange SPV M500 but my phone refuses to connect to it.

My M500 sync'd fine with my last (and vastly inferior) PC on the same version of activesync.

After uninstalling that version of activesync, I went online and got Activesync v4.1, installed that and still no joy, I just get the same message about ensuring that my proxy settings are correct blah blah blah.

In frustration i went and purchased a bluetooth usb device, plugged that in and installed and whilst it lets me send everything i want to my PC it won't let me send anything back to my phone except for the PCs business card  This is especially annoying when you consider both are Windows devices, surely I can send pics and MP3s to my M500?

It also won't sync through bluetooth

(I'm using Blue Soleil as my bluetooth transfer program).

Does anybody have any idea where I'm going wrong with activesync please? or perhaps have any knowledge on where I can obtain (for free) another format of bluetooth file share program.

Thanks in advance.

Just a thought, but has your new PC got any Firewall software installed (ZoneAlarm etc)? If so, you may find that the Firewall is blocking access from your phone to the PC.

Cheers Everton.

any joy with this?

i just bought a Tevion USB Bluetooth Dong(le ;) ), which comes with the Blue Soleil software, so i could active sync my Qtek 8100 and get my emails out in the garden.

except it only seems to let me use the "contact card send" and "dial-up modem" services, when i really want the file transfer and syncronisation deelies.

is it the software, my pc, or the phone?

(incidentally the drivers for bt were a bit of a pain in the ass to install...and stay installed)

just about to try WIDCOMM bt software instead, see if that works.

Turns out it was indeed my firewall which was obstructing 1 aspect of Activesync. ;)

I too have Bluesoleil but no longer use it now my syncs working properly, I also could only use 2 of the options available so don't think it's all it's cracked up to be. <_<
