Guest jokerjoe Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 My phone keeps on thinking it's in headset mode, it thinks this because the switch inside the headphone socket is broken/real sticky. I'm sick of having to carry my earphones everywhere in case I need to jiggle it round the socket. People call me and I can't hear them and they can hear me. It's sooooo annoying. I don't suppose one of you clever people out there knows a way I could disable it?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Not sure with the SP5 but on previous models it was not possible.

And all I can say is....sorry dude that sux donkey balls. Try taking the batt. out and take the headset jack (soaked in rubbing achool) and jiggle it around in the hole for awhile. Then let it dry before putting the batt. back in. This worked for me for a little while.

Guest mini_man Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 There are four solutions to this problem: 1.) Blow seriously hard into the socket and hope whatevers in there will move. 2.) Take a headphone jack spray it with some WD40 and wiggle it around inside. 3.) Take a paper click spray it with some WD40 and poke around untill it clicks in to headset mode. 4.) Use the cab from Gpcarreons blog to hope it gets sorted. http://www.gpcarreon.com/?p=348 Sam
Guest Dan8859 Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Thought I'd bring this topic back cos it's fustrating me beyond belief. I have an SPV C600 stuck on headset. Solution 1 never seemed to work for me, but 2 and 3 occasionaly work for a bit but no longer than a few hours. Installing the CAB didn't seem to do anything. Any other ideas anyone?

Guest The Doctor Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 hey i have same problem exist just remove the headphone socket from the main mainboard? you can do that by effectively desoldering the 5 contacts at it should just fall off. then you can either clean it properly in an ultrasonic bath and solder it back on or just leave it off if its no longer in headset mode phil
Guest stevie_mac Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I am convinced this is problem is due to poor connection to the PCB not bad contacts in the the socket I came to this conclusion due to the method I use to get my phone out of Headset mode: (The following list explains how I get my phone out of headset mode - as explicitly as I can - not to be anal, but to be sure you get what I'm doing!) Here goes... 1. Hold phone upside down, in left hand, screen to palm & base of phone protruding out approx 1 inch. 2. Place thumb of right hand on the left edge of the phone 3. Using the nail of your index finger - in contact with the metal edge of the headphone socket hole, squeeze, so that you push the headphone socket towards your thumb (i.e. push the socket towards the left of the phone) 4. Keep pressing for 5 to 10 seconds. Most times, this would work straight away. Sometimes, I'd have to reset the phone after this & sometimes I'd have to switch the profile manually back to 'Normal' I would have to do this a few times a day & really though it was gonna get worse (it should have by all reason & logic!) but it didn't. The frequency of this ritual decreased after a week or two & now barley ever happens. Hope this helps, Steve.

This is due to the fact that since this problem reared its ugly head, I've stopped using earphones to stop it getting worse & now I miss not being able to use a headset (listening to music while out walking the dog) Regards, Steve.

Me thinks you should invest in some A2DP headphones  Phil
Guest Dan8859 Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Lol, works for me too. Alcohol really is the solution to everything then. Cool. Shame I can't stick the earphones in anymore to listen to music, but not worth risking it as I'd rather be able to make calls.
Guest mitch1974 Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 (edited) If you're not bothered about using the handsfree headset you can just delete the profile from the registry, you just have to unlock the phone first. *edit* Actually, this doesn't work, the phone was just teasing me, it's started doing it again, thankfully, I sorted it with a blade of grass (for those times you're in the middle of a field without a cocktail stick). Guest bowdowntozoltan Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 i want to still use the headphones so is there an easy fix??
Guest Dan8859 Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 As far as I've found out, there's no fix that will guarentee the problem won't come back if you carry on using earphones. I've stopped using mine now which is annoying, but I no longer have to clean the connection out.
Guest bowdowntozoltan Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 this is ridiculous this just started happening to me. So there is not a permanent fix at all?! I really need this to work! I have all my music on here!!
