Guest Mr El Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Hello Just got a nice new upgrade from a Orange SPV C500 to a C600. Whats the best way to trasnfer all my data (contacts, text messages and if possible call history aswell as images etc but i can just use active sync and the pc for that!) to my new phone. Should I use active sync and outlook, or is there a easer way of doing this. Thanks,
Guest baby-g Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 (edited) I want to do the same thing, my old C500 is absolutely haggard now and I have a newer one I want to copy everything onto. I want all of my text not just the inbox but sent items too. I don't know how to do this with activesync, or even if it's possible, so anyone who knows would be amazing if they could help thanks Edited April 6, 2006 by baby-g

Im sure i got it through the Orange web site under downloads i think.
Guest baby-g Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Thanks, looks good but I'm not really one for paying for things lol, especially as I am only gonna need to use it once. So if anyone know a free way to do it I'd love to hear it thanks

Also if you copy contacts to the sim, and then put sim in new phone and import contacts, you cant have more than one number/email address/other details for the contact on the sim... On the C500, theres a program (ContactWiz.exe in windows/ of the root of the C500) that is used to import via infrared all contacts off your old phone. However this is not on the C600, and i tried copying it over but it doesnt work, i assume as its a different version of windows or cos it requires other files. Anyone any other ideas...? Cheers
Guest baby-g Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 (edited) I've managed to get activesync to copy all my contacts whichs was fairly easy, but I'm struggling to get it to copy my inbox, and I don't know if it will even bother with sent items Edited April 7, 2006 by baby-g
Guest baby-g Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 *bump* anyone else? there's gotta be a way to do it
Guest Mr El Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 (edited) Hello If i browse on my C500 to \Storage\windows\Messaging\ there is loads of .mpb files. Some of these are 0 bytes in size, others 112 or 118 or similar bytes. If i open them in notepad on my PC...the 0 byte size ones are obvioulsy blank. However, the larger sized files are delivery reports that are in my deleted items of my phone. It says: "T h e m e s s a g e y o u s e n t t o 0 0 3 5 3 ********9 h a s b e e n d e l i v e r e d . " There seems to be no data on the date the message was delivered/recieved, or the sender, or the subject. On the phone, the message also has Sender: System Administrator (as its a delivery report!) and Subj: Message delivered. Then the main message body is as quoted above. Also the recieved date and time is displayed... the only other thing is the file name: 300001421000001f.mpb or something similar. All of the .mpb in the Messages folder are either blank or delivery reports that are saved in deleted items in my phone... So....where are the actual messgaes from the inbox/drafts/sent items stored...and if i do find them, will they contain the from/delivery time data... Thanks. edit: bit more browsing about on the c500 in root/windows the only files I can see big enough to contain my text messages (as ive a few hundred stored on the phone!) are called: MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Text SMS Protocol MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Raw SMS Protocol (Receive Only) etc etc etc theres a few of them, and theyre all 2.71MB However i cant copy them to the PC and try opening them as theres a sharing violation. Can anyone confirm if these are related to my problem:)! Theyre 2.71Mb Edited April 9, 2006 by Mr El
