Guest rizzles Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 I have just got a new wireless network at home and i had alot of trouble getting it to work.. now it is working but when im connected to it and browse the web it is even slower than GPRS. Now i connect to my brothers Wi Fi at full speed so i know its not the phone.. is there any kind of settings that i need to change to speed it up? I have a D-Link DSLg604t and i am on BT broadband cheers Ryan
Guest madferret Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 (edited) There's not a lot you can do directly to the phone to speed things up. WiFi problems are usually down to things like the WiFi security method used and physical factors like walls in your house! You say you can connect so I presume you have the router in mixed b/g mode (or have patched the phone to connect to 11g directly). Try deleting the connection settings for your network in Settings/Network Cards - in my experience, it's more reliable to wait for the phone to detect a network than try setting one up manually - then disable encryption to see if that works better. It does, delete the phone settings again and apply security. Having the latest firmware in your router also helps. I've found that my Vario with a Netgear router is happer using WEP than WPA as the encryption method. Less secure but I'm not in a neighbourhood where wireless hacking will be a major issue!
