Guest vedtom Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 I have my device from O2, so got no pvplayer on it.Download from 'pvplayer.com'-is not possible it is writen there that Orange devices include this player only.So how to get it?I hope somone got an idea because i really need it.I think there is a version for Pc too! Thanks...
Guest deejayry Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 PV player is installed as standard on the orange m2000, and probably others as well. its one of those progs that gets installed automaticly on first boot after hard reset. i'm not sure what happens to the cab file once its done, i guess it gets deleted or hidden like most others. I remember a thread on here a while ago that was discussing how to avoid installing these "first boot" progs, it mentioned that you reset the handset at a certain point through the setup, the handset then wont install the cabs and it will just leave them in the memory somewhere, if you can find someone who has / is prepared to do this and copy the .cabs to a computer. they could send you the right cab, and hey presto. seems a bit longwinded i suppose, but it the only thing i can think of right now. i remember looking for PV as i used to remove it from my m2000 straight away, i dont think i ever found it on the web, and resorted to a hard reset in the end.
Guest vedtom Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Interesting, I wouldn't came to this idea ever.Hmm, if there is no other option i must try thisway but in that case i must find somone with an Spv M500, which is compatible with my Xda mini.I have found on www.ppc4all.com a pvplayer download, there is a picture too about for ppc, but the link is no more available. In turn there were already 3000 downloads. So i have tried 'Lime wire' using these keywords 'pvplayer for pocket pc'-i have get some results but at installing these i realized that these were no proper *.cab files so better i deleted them.Su still nothing but i keep trying.
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 I know you're aware that pvplayer.exe (or whatever it's called) is a copyrighted file and that is why you're not asking members to upload it here. ;) However what intrigues me is what use you have found for PVplayer. This program has been preinstalled on phones (Orange at least) for ages now but I've never heard of anyone finding anything to play on it. :?:
Guest vedtom Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Possible its old, but so far I don't know another taht would play that video what orange is streaming ower wap in our country.Using spv c500 I had no problems with the built-in pvplayer. But now my XDA mini got no streaming video player, practically WMP 10 should play this tipe, but is not working. In turn the file format is 3gp but when I tap the video link it begins to download a tiny "cs.sdp" file and that can be identified only by pvplayer. Could you suggest me eny simmilar video player that could solve this? Thanks.
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Okay, I don't have a solution but let's get this straight; you have on o2-branded phone - XDA Mini - that you use with an Orange SIM. o2 ROM doesn't include a packet video player that you can use to stream media from the Orange website. I don't think there is a way for you to solve this problem. Orange will use this obscure format to stream content to their customers only. It is like i-Tunes, it is a way to restrict media from being used by non-subscribers.
