Possibly a dump question, but the site states this is version v2.21.4.101. Does this replace my "OS" version, currently at 1.5.4.2? Seems a big jump.

It's good this is available but I'm not sure I can be bothered to upgrade. It means bying a backup solution, wiping the device then going through all the stuff so as not to install the o2 settings etc etc.

Also, 50MB for the ROM!! Seems a bit big!

If people have upgraded already please let us know your thoughts on the new ROM

It's taken me maybe 1 hour to backup, install the ROM and reinstall my apps. It also means that a whole bunch of crap which I'd installed and then removed (but which didn't remove completely, such as Skype) is gone, so it's a good 'excuse' to do a hard-reset.

Biggest loss is that I couldn't backup/restore my sent emails (the received ones are on my server) or my SMSes - but I wasn't bothered about them.

50Mb for the ROM includes the setup program, etc. It doesn't necessarily imply that the ROM itself is 50Mb. I suspect it's not much bigger than the ROM you already have on there.

In terms of 'thoughts on the new ROM' - it's not particularly different from what I can see. Biggest visible difference appears to be the comms manager (which has extra stuff for push mail, etc) and the new battery icon on the top bar.

Did find it interesting that despite installing 'basic' (as opposed to corporate - the option for 'active' didn't appear for me) and it being an official O2 ROM, I had to manually set up my GPRS settings!
