Alternatives to activesync 4.0/4.1

Ive just upgraded my C500 to C600.

Ive been using ActiveSync 3.8 on my PC, which has windows ME.

To sync with the C600, i need active sync 4.0 or above, however I need windows 2000/XP to install it on the PC.

So, is there an active sync alternative, that will allow me to sync with oulooks .pst file, and will work on windows ME (or 98).

I have an old laptop with windows 98 on, would it be easier to update that to 2000 (i dont think it could handle XP) and then use that?
