change icons

I want to change the icon pictures for some programs in the Start Menu.. How do I assign an icon? There is not .ico file as on a Windows XP etc computer.. Thanks alot!

I have had a go today and have had success with apps that have their .exe in \Storage and \Storage Card, but not with anything in \Windows (doesn't the main \Windows directory get reset at each boot anyway?)

standerd .ico files are used, to change them you need to use Resource Hacker to modify the exe

The steps are:

Copy the exe you want to modify from your phone onto your PC

Download Resource hacker from HERE

Run Resource Hacker and open the exe you want to modify with File, open...

In the left hand pane expand 'Icon Group' and browse through the tree until the icon you want to change appears in the right hand pane

From the menu bar click on 'Action, Replace Icon...'

In the dialog box that pops up click on 'Open file with new icon'

Browse to the new icon you want to use (which you will have saved on your PC)

Click 'Replace'

Finally click 'File, Save' and overwrite the original on your phone (you may wish to make a backup copy of the original)

Restart your phone to see the changes!

Tested successfuly on my C550!
