Remote control...

Hey guys, yet another topic...

Any of you know of any working remote control software for the Wizard? I'm talking to use on your TV/stereo/etc. etc. using the IR port.

I tried out NoviiRemote, but then after checking on the forums, there is some crap about the TI processor having some secret hidden business or something, man, I dunno;

Anyway, does anyone have a program that will allow me to use my phone as a remote control? I would assume that if these guys cant get their software to work, then others may have a difficult time also...

Time for me to go to bed!

Thanks ;)

That sucks ... Oh well, I assume that the NoviiRemote guys will have it sorted soon ;)

Bear in mind that the IrDA on these sorts of device is very weak, so even if somebody does get the IrDA interface working on WM5, you can expect to have to sit within 3ft of the unit you're trying to remotely control in order for it to work. :roll:

and at that distance you could probably lean forwards and change the channel!

How does this one compare to the one on the Magician? My mate used to have his Magician set up as a remote and it worked fine from an average distance...

I understand you are talking about remote control for the TV and so on

if you are also wanting to control media files on your PC, check out my WMP Remote control. Allows you to connect to the PC via wireless/bluetooth/USB and play files and so on from the Windows Mobile Device ;)

As for the TV stuff, yes the IrDA device is really poor in terms of strength. It can be done no doubt. the smartphones have a different set of hardware for IrDA than the PPC so developing such an app for the PPC is easily achieved than for the smartphone's

hint hint

just need to wait till I get my first PPC to do this stuff on :P
