WMA playback problems on MDA Vario

Got the T-Mobile vario very happy - however when I sync music across from WMP and then try to playback it either gets sync'd but when I play it back on Vario it says "buffering" and then doesn't play at all - OR - WMP says it can't convert !

I rip at Lossless so suspect I need to convert to mp3 and it'll work ok, but would be grateful for some advice please ;)

I always get wmp10 on the pc to rip cd's etc to lbrary and then drag files across manually using explorer. works a treat.
