Guest lyserg Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 I've noticed that words that I have added to my custom T9-dictionary sometimes disappear! I am 100% sure that I have added certain words, but when I try to use them again I still get the pop-up with the "Add word" option to manually enter it again. Is there a memory-limit on how many words you can have in your custom dictionary? I have a 512MB memory card, with almost nothing on it. So space shouldn't be an issue here... Do different programs use different wordlists? Like, the standard SMS-program and the Oxios Todo-List? They both use the same, right? So that shouldn't be an issue either. However, I think it is case sensitive to words, right? But that still doesn't clarify why some words, which I know I've used and added, still are not there the next time I try to use them. Thoughts?
Guest lyserg Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 (edited) I still haven't been able to figure out the logic behind this problem (if there even is any). I still notice some words dissappearing, that I KNOW for a fact that I have used before and therefore should be added in my custom T9-wordlist. Where are the custom words saved? What storage memory? In what file? Could it be that there is not enough space left where they are saved? Shouldn't be... Do SMS-storage, MMS-storage and T9-custom-words end up on the same memory-device? Can I change this to my storage card somehow? Please help me ;) Edited May 30, 2006 by lyserg
Guest lyserg Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 I thought editing this post (my new message is the message above) would bring this topic to the top, but it obviously didn't. So, here is a reply to bump it! :)
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Okay, I'm not sure I can be much help but I'll start by asking you which phone you have ? :)

Guest Disco Stu Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 All I can tell you is that if you start a new message, press & hold the *T9 button, select '6 T9 Settings' then '2 My Words' you get the list of items you have added, either deliberately or accidentally, while typing. I like to review the list regularly to get rid of all the errors and it usually never gets above 150 items. I don't know what the database is called although it should be obious from the \Windows directory. I don't think you can move this to the storage card without editing the registry but I doubt that would save much space anyway. I think I've experienced the word-loss problem before but can't be certain. It is fairly easy to put them back in the list now you know where to go. Adding usernames and passwords is very handy for PIE. Hope this helps. :)

I am aware of that function and I also view my custom words on a regular basis to remove faulty ones :) That makes it even more strange when some words I know I've used/added before, are not there when I manually browse the custom dictionary. I don't know what the database is called although it should be obious from the \Windows directory. I don't think you can move this to the storage card without editing the registry but I doubt that would save much space anyway. Some indication on which registry key to edit would be greatly appreciated, also which key to edit to make SMS/MMS store on the storage card instead of the built-in-memory? Hope this helps. :) Thanks man!
Guest lyserg Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 Today it happened again... yesterday I had 211 words added, and today when I looked I had only 208. The three most recent ones that I added were gone. I know this because I just added some random rubbish-words to test what would happen. The files where the words are stored are (I THINK) \Application data\T9AW.CDB and \Application data\T9AW.UDB Because these are most recently modified when I've added a new word. However, they never appear to go over 4.00K in size, no matter if I add more words or not. Is there a maximum limit in size on those files? Can I increase that somewhere in the registry? How big are those files for you people, are they bigger than 4K? Please check :) Could it be that there is a maximum size on the custom T9-dictionary and when you've reached that limit, all new words added, are deleted after some time or is it that the SPACE available for T9/SMS/MMS/IE cache or whatever, is full? If so, again, where can I specify another storage path for T9/SMS/MMS? Which I asked about above :) I could only find one thing in the registry when searching for "T9AW", and that didn't seem to be relevant at all. Can you guys figure something out that I can't? ;)
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 Both my files are exactly 4kb but I would have no idea of how to change the registry to increase this or relocate the files. I only have 108 words stored there.
Guest lyserg Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Some time has passed since this post was active but the same problem has remained for me, that whenever I add new words to the custom dictionary, it replaces some of the old ones and I cant figure out how or why. Or not even the rules it uses to chose which words to replace. Has anyone also noticed this problem by now and has a solution to it or something? :)
