Guest pjam001 Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 I've just been thinking, since you can get a wifi card to fit in a sdio slot, would a card that gives you 3g data rates work? Would be a good solution to the current smaller ppc phones. (can't find any mention on the net).
Guest Webreaper Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 Since you'd need a 3G SIM for it to connect I can't see how ot would work - nobody could fit the 3g hardware and a SIM card reader into an sdio card. To work without a 3g sim reader would require a host device which takes a 3g sim, rendering the whole odea pointless...
Guest deejayry Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 I'm sure there is a way around the sim thing, it doesnt have to be a removable plasticy sim card at all, there is nothing really stopping the sim chip, which is so tiny, being permenantly connected inside the unit. Correct me if i am wrong, but many phones use a similar setup, i beleive they do this mainly in america. whilst in california last year i looked at buying a phone handset, i had never seen this particular phone in the uk, when i asked about it i was told that it did not use a removable sim card, making it unusable in the uk.
