Guest Jorsher Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Hey, how yard do you think it would be to put a 3.2mm jack in the MDA? I just use bluetooth headsets so don't really have a use for the jack other than music. I would think the hardest part would be taking the MDA apart then just sodering a larger jack out of some old electronics and maybe having to shave a bigger hole in the case. I'm aware you could just buy an adaptor but I personally enjoy modding crap and cutting back on the accessories. Such as a mod I read about yesterday to build wifi into the old xbox. Any suggestions or ideas?
Guest Laser_iCE Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Having a quick look at my phone now, I can't see why it'd be too difficult. There's enough room (well so i assume) where the plastic barrier creating the smaller jack is... So as long as you go directly from the case to the actual jack itself, with no barriers or anything, I think you should be fine... Have fun soldering and taking apart the phone! ;)

Any suggestions or ideas? You'd need a 10 contact 3.5mm jack from a device that is also stereo and handsfree else you'll need the service manual to determine which points on the board are for stereo sound - but when you were using the headphones you would hear the phone ring but be unable to answer / be heard. Do you just want stereo audio or handsfree as well? I can't think of a device you could pull a jack from off the top of my head that would do this. I have a feeling you'll loose phone answer functions and the headphone jack detection microswitch so may not get any sound through as well unless you bridge the contacts and then the wizard won't have 'normal' sound as it'll always be in handsfree mode unless you rig an external switch. The more I type the more I think it's a non-starter.....sorry buddy ;) Richard
Guest Pigo Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 how about modding your earphones? why mollest a harmless (expensive) phone when you can do it the other way around. shame to take it apart and making everything fit (which is a pain in the *** job) Hope you reach your goal. Pigo
