I keep getting invalid recipient errors for particular email addresses when sending from my XDA Mini S. for example, tonight:

Your message 'RE: Online billing' was not sent and has been moved to the Drafts folder.

The following recipients are invalid:

[email protected]

I know this address is valid. and if I send through the same account via my Pc. it works fine.

I've had the some issue with a couple of hotmail accounts too.

I'm running the latest 02 ROM. Anyone know how to fix this?

Afraid not, but I am having the same problem with the same setup. It happens when I send email using IMAP on my xda mini s and connected through the wifii, though I haven't tried with gprs yet.

You need to authenticate on your outgping mail server. Go into the mail account settings and make sure you have ticked the Outgoing server requires authentification box.

I have authentication set up correctly for my mailserver, and have sent numerous addresses successfully; it's only certain addresses that it fails for.

It's very odd.

I've had the same on my compact II with t-mobile. Setting the out going server to t-mobiles smtp server, leaving the password and username blank, solved the problem.

Your outgoing (ie SMTP) server should always be set to whoever you are connecting through so for your home PC it should be your ISP but for your phone it should be your phone provider.

The mail recipient IS invalid through the server you are trying to use when connected through a different connection.

Correct the SMTP server and it should work.

I've had the same problem several times on various pocket pcs. I found that deleting all mail accounts, soft-resetting the device and creating again the mail accounts (using the same details as entered initially) solved the problem.

Don't know what its down to, it is not down to the settings used.

I don't think it's down to the settings either. I was using my blueyonder email perfectly on my spv-c500 until it went into repair, and now, with the same settings I get the invalid recipient message. I'm on Vigrin mobile and was using the blueyonder SMTP address sucessfully before.

I've tried the virgin SMTP address as suggested in this thread but got the same problem. (smpt.virgin.net)

Think I may try the soft reset and re enter all the details. :)

Fixed it. Used the blueyonder smtp but said it needed authentication with a different user name and password - but then just entered the same details as for the incoming server. Weird, but works! :)
