Contacts and Calendar not working together

Right a few details first:

I'm using an O2 XDA mini s and have only just recently done a hard reset without installing all the O2 stuff and installed nothing since then so it is essentially in stock condition.

Before I hard reset I used to use activesync and had all my contacts, calendar events etc on my computer so it wouldn't be a hassle when I came to restore them all back on my phone. Anyway in the process of syncing them back on my phone, I had to transfer them across between two PC,s because my Desktop had stopped sycing. During the process of exporting from one PC and importing to another, I had to leave the recurring events, i.e. the brithdays because of the export process. It didn't matter though because the birthdays were all listed in the contact details, and so appeared in the calender when they were imported. Well I then synced my phone with the PC and got everything across, except that the birthdays didn't show in calendar. I've tried getting rid of them all in contacts and re-entering them, but they don't show up, and I've tried creating a test contact (called test), adding a birthday, but that doesn't show up either. I've tried all sorts of things, but nothign works.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Birthdays don't show up on my calendar and never have, except in the single-day view. All items where your status is "free" don't show.

Hi,

as far as I know it from my smartphone, the contacts birthdays are never displayed in the calendar!

The only way to get them into the calendar without an additional tool on the phone itself is to sync the calendar as well as the contacts with a destop PC Outlook; then Outlook will copy the birthdays into the calendar for you. I guess that is waht happened to you (or rather your phone) in the past.

There are plenty (also free) tools for copying the contact birthdays into your calendar, but most of them are only for PPCs and won't work on smartphones.

At least, after asking and looking around in different forums, searching at any imaginable mobile software download site, trying out many tools and 'googleing' for a solution again and agian, at least I've found a tool that seems to fit my needs! :)

Papurys from SBSH Mobile Software is not for free, but looks pretty nice at first sight!

It's called a management solution, including a more powerful calendar which is also capable of showing birthdays and anniversary days (taken from the phones contacts list)!

Sure I have to find & try out all of its functionality next time, but I guess I won't be disappointed.

There's aversion running on SmartPhones with WM5 (supporting also QVGA display resolution - and...: YEAH!! It really works!!!!) :) as well as a version for Symbian 60 based phones.

Just take a look, maybe this will be also the right solution for your needs!? ;)
