Guest jasonic Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 hi guys, my spv m1000 keeps acting real slow and its doing my head in as to why, please help. was texting away yesterday morning and it was working super fine, then all of a sudden the system just froze, took the battery out for a few secs and when i put it back in, got to me password screen and again it froze when i tapped the 4th digit leaving the last number i touched still highlighted. done a hard reset to the phone pushing the lil button at the bottom and it turned off and came up with the screen with the 3 red numbers in the bottom right hand corner and then froze there. Had to take battery out and leave it out for couple hours to deplete reserve battery, then when i put it all back in again, the phone restored itself normally and worked fine. well.....for a couple hours ne way, got all the phone restored, then all of a sudden it done it again, but thise time i didnt hit the reset on the bottom, had to leave battery out for couple hours and when i put it back in, phone re-installed itself again as if i hit the reset. got it all back up and running again and was working fine until last night. once again was texting away, when it decided to do it yet again, start acting slow, not as bad this time tho, just took about 90secs to perform ne thing i wanted it to do, managed to get into settings-memory-running programs and stop all, nothing in the list but has made no difference, phone still acting slow. checked the running programs many times to see if anything popped itself into the list and its all clear. all i got installed into the phone is: tomtom navigator and batmemtime, other than that i put 2 tones into the system, 1 for ringtone and 1 for sms tone. I can't see a reason for it acting like this and don't wanna hard reset yet again for it to keep doing this. Can ne1 heal with suggestions as to why my phone keeps doing this. Cheers in advanced.
Guest jasonic Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 ok, did have phone working fine, but just took the battery out to put one of those antenna booster thingys under the battery, turned it back on again, and it got to the password screen and has froze again. Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 It may be worth checking you have the latest ROM update for your device also a hard reset may be an option to wipe the phone and reset back to the factory defaults.

Guest jimbouk Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 Just pushing the reset button is a soft reset. You should hard-reset the device (there'll either be a few buttons to press and hold whilst pushing the soft reset button or there will be a "clear storage" option in settings) and not install any apps (like the memmate) until you can see whether the device is running better. If I had to guess, I would expect it to be a result of a bad app install draining memory and causing the problem.

Am resetting the device by pushing the stylus into the litle hole at the bottom and the power button at the top together, this then starts a proceedure which looks as if its reinstalling the device, after this none of my apps or information exist. after the reinstall, all i been putting back on is batmemtime and tomtom. Have removed batmemtime now to help eliminate that, tomtom i'd rather keep on it as that is the main purpose of me getting the unit
Guest jimbouk Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 Cool. Wouldnt be surprised if it wasnt batmemtime... If it still plays up, you could try reflashing the rom - as it might be corrupted.

Guest jasonic Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 just been playing with the phone aiming to make it flank out like it has been, been taking the battery in and out and in and out and in and out and restarting the phone each time, and its been working super fine. re-installed batmemtime and played with removing the battery again and its been super fine. re-instated the password, and on the first battery removal and return back in, it flanked out, straight away, tried this twice and seems to have been eliminated down the the password feature in settings-personal-password. Looks like i better off running it without a password. I gonna keep having a play just to see how it goes but as long as there no password installed, its looking promising atm. Fingers crossed broblem sorted. Will post again if it does it again for some unknown reason. Cheers for ya helps so far peeps, mucho appreciated.
