Windows Media Player 10 - The Real Deal

Hi all,

I was messing around with the FakeCursor utility on my SPV C600. As you probably know it has Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows Media Player 10 on it. If you have WMP10 then have you ever figured out what those stars are for in the top right hand corner? The rating stars? And how do you use them? Well I accidently uncovered it today...

I opened any song - bit of Jack Johnson for this experiment - and activated the FakeCursor by pressing the IE Browser button which I mapped to be FakeCursor instead. I then used the joypad to navigate the cursor (which simulates a stylo on a Pocket PC) to the stars and change the rating! Check it out below:

So have Microsoft just ported the Pocket PC version of WMP10? Any ideas or suggestions?

well other utilities can be clicked with the fakecursor i think.

in WMP10 you just push "*" (star in the left down of your phone, (left of 0)) to rate a song.

Not really, the Smartphone version of Windows Mobile (and Smartphone 2002 before it) was always known to be a rejigged version of the Pocket PC operating system (and WINCE from which it is derived). It's long been known to have many of the same registry entries/coding some of which is not utilised in the Smartphone version.
